Charity name: The Easter Team

This report is about both of the above charities. Charity 1013310 has been registered since 3 August 1992 and charity 1194018 has been registered since 7 April 2021. The new charity is replacing the old charity and all the activities and assets of the old charity are being transferred to the new charity. The old charity is going to be closed as soon as it is practical to do so.

	Contribution made by volunteers and supporters	The Easter Team could not operate without the large number of kind individuals, churches, schools and other organisations who generously give large amounts of food, many hours of their time, money and other valuable resources. The Easter Team is extremely grateful to Sayers Publishing Group Ltd for allowing part of their premises to be used on very favourable terms as a food store. The Easter Team is extremely grateful to Love Your Neighbour for their wide ranging support including giving money and providing a food distribution hub in Crawley town centre.

Achievements and Performance

	Summary of the main achievements of the charities, identifying the diference the charities’ work has made to the circumstances of its benefciaries and any wider benefts to society as a whole	During 2021 the Easter Team helped a large number of families and individuals in the Crawley area get through periods of crisis. During 2021 the Easter Team provided and distributed food parcels to people in crisis on 2 days every week. A total of 4,658 food parcels were given away (up from 4,020 in the previous year). The Easter Team provided gas and electricity pre-payment meter top ups for people in crisis. A total of 1,103 top ups were paid for (up from 829 in the previous year). The top ups were mostly at £20 each (up from £15 each in the previous year). Through weekly personal contact (on the phone or at the front door) the Easter Team’s volunteers encouraged and helped many people in crisis. Many of the families and individuals helped would otherwise not have had sufcient food, would not have been able to heat their homes properly and would have found the coronavirus pandemic and other crises they faced even more difcult to cope with.

Financial Review

Review of the charities’ During 2021 the Easter Team had income of
financial position £63,973 (up from £37,247 the previous year).
The main income was donations of £29,917,
Gift Aid of £5,211, grants from Love Your
Neighbour of £18,542 and other grants of
£9,780. Most of the donations were from
individuals and churches.
During 2021 the Easter Team spent £50,349
(up from £27,995 the previous year).
The main spending was £22,120 on gas and
electricity meter top ups, £9,791 on food for
clients (to supplement the food donated by
supporters), £13,624 on the employment of an
Operations Manager and £4,789 on other
running costs.
The above income and spending figures do not
include £77,122 that was transferred from the
old charity to the new charity during 2021.
The accounts for the old charity include this
amount as spending and the accounts for the
new charity include the same amount as
income.
Amount of reserves held During 2021 the increase in the Easter Team’s
spending was exceeded by an amazing
increase in income. The Easter Team also
continued to benefit from an exceptional one-
off donation of £30,000 that was received in
2018. At the end of 2021 the Easter Team held
a total of £74,126.

parcels to them and arrange the topping up of
gas and electricity pre-payment meters. The
hub is a joint venture with Love Your
Neighbour.
None of the Easter Team’s trustees or
volunteers receives any remuneration or other
benefit.
