2. Structure, Governance and Management
Harlequin Amateur Theatrical Society (the “Society”) is a charitable incorporated organisation governed by its constitution and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
The trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the Society. Trustees are appointed and retire in accordance with the Society’s constitution. No changes to the trustee body occurred during the reporting period.
3. Objectives and Activities
The Society’s charitable objectives are to advance the arts, particularly amateur dramatic performance, for the benefit of the public through theatrical productions, training, and related cultural activities.
During the financial year ended 31 March 2025, the Society undertook no theatrical productions, training, or public outreach activities.
4. Achievements and Performance
There were no operational activities, performances, fundraising events, or community engagement initiatives undertaken during the reporting period.
5. Financial Review
5.1 Income and Expenditure
The Society had no income or expenditure during the financial year ended 31 March 2025. Total funds remained unchanged throughout the year.
5.2 Reserves Policy
The trustees consider it prudent to maintain sufficient reserves to meet ongoing administrative costs and future production expenses. At 31 March 2025, total funds amounted to £5,506.96 , all of which are unrestricted funds.
5.3 Risk Management
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Society is exposed, particularly the risk of inactivity and declining membership. Trustees will consider steps to re-engage members and recommence activities in future periods.
6. Plans for Future Periods
The trustees intend to explore opportunities to recommence productions and activities in future financial periods, subject to member engagement, venue availability, and financial sustainability.
7. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
The trustees are required to: - Keep proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the Society;

Prepare financial statements on a receipts and payments basis;

Safeguard the assets of the Society and take reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Notes to the Financial Statements
1. Basis of Preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 and applicable guidance for smaller charities.
2. Accounting Policies
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention. Income and expenditure are recognised when received or paid.
3. Fund Analysis
All funds held by the Society at 31 March 2025 are unrestricted.
Independent Examiner’s Report
Not applicable, as the Society had no income or expenditure and is below the threshold requiring independent examination.
