Statement of Activitles In its first year of operation the charib'es. activities have been undertaken in partnership wilh the Durham Miners Assooatioll {DMA). Each activity has been underlaken in pursuance of the charitable objects, summartsgd below., 1. Preservation and management of the PAlners Hall, Durham. Working in partnership with the current owners DMA Ihe charity has produced a legal transfgr of assets document to assume ownership of the Miners, Hall and ils assooiated collections and archive material. This asset transfer is to be ¢x)ncluded in the next year of operation. Ajoint grant agreement b.as been issued lo DMA and the charity by National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLH F} regarding the multi-million pound refijrbishmenl of the hall. FLJrther funding agreements, including Durt)am County Counryl and Gatheld Weston have been agreed, In pathership with DMA the charity has ov6rseen the preparatory works associated with this scheme to RIBA planning stage 4 {technical design}. A Chief Executive Officer has been appointed and a small maiagement team assembled for the purposes of achieving the charitable objects. The team will begin work in the next financial year,Iheir remuneration is paid via project funds from NLHF and others. A business plan has been developed regarding the sustainable and viable ongoing operational and financial management of the Miners Hall following refurbishment. The Miners Hall has also been lenlalivety induded in a UNESCO serial nomination for world heritage status. This would establish a truly global signtfiGance for the heritage of the mingrs, hall. 2. Promotlon and provision of education. recreation and lelsure activltles for the $o¢lal wemare of the public Working in partnership wilh DMA and others the charty has undertaken a range ofactivilies for Ihe above purpose.. Talks and Lectures Trustees, DMA staff and volun'.eers have gwen talk5 and lecture5 detailing the Redhills project and the history of the Durham M'ners Association as part of an awareness and profile-rai9ing programme of ackn'vrLie5. Volunteering and placements Numerous volunteering opportu.iities have been prowded to the CA)rnmunity offering aC￿sS lo heritage collections and archive material. Several of these volunteering opportunities have been provided to young people not in education, employment or training, adults with learning disabilities, students and ￿tiree$. A number of student placements have been undertaken with beneficiaries going on to find relevant roles in the heritage sector as a result of experience gained and references provided. Durham Brass Festival DMAIRedhills supported the Ix)mmissioning of an original suite of songs inspired by the history of the Durham Miners Association by Mercury Music Prize nominees Field Music, lo be presented at the festival in July 2022.
