STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, governed by a constitution, and is registered with the Charity Commission under charity number 1193834.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits to fulfil this role. The charity is responsible for all decisions taken in relation to the overall control and management of the charity.
RECRUITMENT, APPOINTMENT AND TRAINING OF TRUSTEES
The current trustees are responsible for the appointment of new trustees. New trustees are brought into the organisation, when required, on the basis of eligibility, competence, specialist knowledge and skills. It is the policy of Al-Husna Academy that each trustee during induction is given a copy of the trust deed, the latest audited accounts, recent meeting minutes and guidance regarding the policies and procedures adopted by our charity.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Risks are assessed, identified, managed and constantly reviewed. A set of policies and procedures are developed to manage risks, which form the internal controls framework. The policies are set and authorised by trustees.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of Al-Husna Academy continue to be as follows:

To advance the religion of Islam, by providing facilities for worship, and,

By providing Islamic education in accordance to the charity doctrine.

To relieve financial hardship and distress amongst poor people and others in need by making grants and providing other necessities for the said persons .
The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit whilst carrying out this review.

ACTIVITIES AND ACHEIVEMNETS
The charity has worked towards achieving the said objectives by continuing to provide the following services:

Publishing of leaflets: During this financial year 4 new leaflets were published on a quarterly basis. The topics for these leaflets were carefully selected to benefit the readers including contemporary matters which impact the lives of Muslims today, with the aim of creating spiritually, educating them about the beautiful teachings of Islam and self-rectification.

Distribution of leaflets: 5000 f each of the new leaflets were printed and a large amount of these leaflets were distributed by the trustees in different areas of Birmingham and its outskirts.

Selling calendars and books: The charity also sold beautifully designed calendars for the year 2024 and guide books for those who performed pilgrimage to the Islamic holy lands of Makkah and Madinah.

Beneficial anecdotes: The circulating of beneficial anecdotes also continued on an almost weekly basis.

Transport/ minibus service: The charity made further progress with the minibus that was acquired in the previous financial year. After carrying out necessary work the minibus was uses for a period of approximately 4 months. The aim of this project was to participate and transport people to beneficial programs and talks.

Bi-weekly (spiritual upliftment) program: The bi weekly spiritual upliftment program also continued to take place at one of the trustees’ houses.
FUTURE PLANS
It is the aim of the trustees to purchase a building which will help to further the activities of the charity. This search continues and over the last financial year a few buildings were identified for this purpose; however, no further progress was made.
CONTRIBUTION OF VOLUNTEERS
During this year one volunteer regularly helped with design work of the charity.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Al-Husna Academy’s source of funding income is through regular donations from the public. Donations were received throughout the year in person and through standing orders.

Note 1 Basis of preparation
1.1 Basis of accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic cost (except that investments are shown at market value) in accordance with:
- Accounting and Reporting by Charities – Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP 2005);
• and with* Accounting Standards; or Financial Reporting Standards for Smaller Enterprises (FRSSE);
- and with the Charities Act.
Income
Income is accounted for on a receipts basis.
Resources expended
Resources expended are accounted for as the liability is incurred. Expenditure includes irrecoverable VAT which is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.
