Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

There has been an increase in the number of schools applying to become schools of sanctuary. Four schools have achieved the award and two school and two colleges are working towards accreditation. There is a greater awareness of the mental health issues that can affect people seeking sanctuary. After training provided to TEWV NHS, Stockton and Middlesbrough MIND, jobs were created for people to work specifically with the RAS community.

There is improved use of mental health services and a specialist service specifically for people seeking sanctuary has begun to provide group therapy sessions for different communities.

Work to obtain Local Authority of Sanctuary status is ongoing in three out of five of our region’s LAs.
