school children in Waunfawr through
the medium of the Welsh language.

activities in relation to those
purposes for the public

accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
Cylch Meithrin
The Cylch follows the ‘foundation phase’
which is to provide a rounded approach to
the education of young children indoors
and outdoors. The leader plans and
arranges the sessions to give the children
opportunities to explore the world around
them and understand how things work by
taking part in practical activities such as
stories, games, songs and imaginative
play. Our sessions are open from the age
of 2 to pre-school age.
Meithrin Mwy
We offer a care service for the children who
attend the school’s nursery class. The
children are picked up from school and are
cared for until 1 or 3pm where they get the
chance to socialise and learn. Our ethos is
centered on the ‘foundation phase’ where
language development is nurtured by
playing games, reading stories, rhymes
and songs.
We hold fundraising events in the local
community and have held a coffee morning
as well as worked with the school to hold a
Christmas fair this year.
The constitution is available on our Google
Drive and is reviewed at our AGM.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission onpublic
Para 1.18 The committee ensures that all trustees
have read and understood the charity’s
policies and procedures.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Staffing
The committee has employed a new leader
and our assistant has completed her
training meaning we have 2 fully-qualified,
dedicated members of staff who ensure the
continued success of the Cylch.
Expanding the provision of care
The committee decided to expand the
provision available for parents from
September 2022 onwards and offer spaces
for ‘wraparound’ care sessions thus filling a
gap in the local community for full day care.
Children attending the nursery class at the
primary school are now able to attend the
Cylch from 11am - 3pm (Monday -
Wednesday) and until 1pm (Thursday and
Friday). We are registered as full day care
providers with CIW. This fulfils a number of
objectives such as responding to parents’
feedback on the need for wraparound care.
This should increase the number of
children attending Cylch Meithrin sessions

and will also bring in additional funding that will assist the charity in being more financially viable long-term. This in turn has proved to be successful. Welsh Language We have achieved our aims to promote the Welsh language by providing a valuable Welsh medium service to users. Some of the children attending our sessions come from non-Welsh speaking families. They are introduced and encouraged to speak the language which helps with the transition to a Welsh speaking school.
