Goudhurst Village Hall (GVH) was established to provide a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Goudhurst without distinction of political, religious or other opinions including use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for those who live in the parish community. |
|
|---|---|---|
| Goudhurst Village Hall (GVH) Committee aims to provide and maintain the hall premises and to promote its use for the inhabitants of the parish of Goudhurst as indicated above. A wide variety of activities have taken place in GVH during 2023-2024. Regular classes and activities in the Main Hall include Exercise classes, St Mary’s Church Lunch Club, Dance classes, Yoga, Pilates, U3A meetings, Soft Furnishing classes, junior Judo Club and Art Classes since January 2024. Activities in the Jessel Room included meetings of: U3A, Goudhurst Parish Council, Hop-pickers Line Heritage Group, GVH Trustees and Village Fete Committee. The Main Hall has also been used for social events such as children’s parties, family celebrations, wedding celebrations, Junior Chess Club and quizzes. GVH Committee organised fundraising events such as an Open Morning, Jumble Sales and Afternoon Teas in aid of GVH building repairs and Goudhurst Drama Society (GADS) has used the Hall for theatrical rehearsals and staged their Autumn production and Spring Revue in the hall. The introduction of the Hall’s Online Bookings Calendar since 2022 has proved to be a very valuable facility increasing the efficiency of room bookings, with excellent support provided by our Booking Officer liaising with hirers and managing the system.
