Helping those in urgent need in Cornwall to make a new home and a fresh start with recycled household items from the local community. We help those referred to us by Social Services and other statutory bodies. We run two warehouses to store donated items, as well as a van to collect and distribute items. We also have a shop to sell vintage items to raise funds. We engage the community through our contacts, our website and social media. We employ a part time admin person to help |

Para 1.38 | In order for the charity to function at low cost, and to provide household items to clients for free, the charity relies on volunteers to support its work. For example, someone to do stock checks, to drive the van, to carry furniture and household items into client homes, (and of course, the trustees are all unpaid volunteers). |

Para 1.20 | In 2022 we helped 346 households /families. This compares to 217 for the period February to December 2021. We had a total of 85 referring organisations and individuals. Clients by category: Homeless rehousing: 25% Vulnerable adult: 19% Domestic violence: 11% Sickness: 10% Change in circumstances: 9% Unemployed: 8% L/T unemployed: 7% Veteran: 2% Benefit delay: 2% Bereavement assistance: 1% Other 6% These families have been given items, a home, dignity, and hope for the future. Our volunteers report the difference it makes to their own lives to know they are doing their bit to help people make a fresh start. In addition, almost 100% of the furnishings are donated free and second-hand rather than going to landfill, thus having a positive impact on the environment. |

| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | Income The total income for the charity was £33,159 compared with £51,282, a decrease of 35%. Whilst income is signifcantly down on 2021, that year was characterised by a specifc fundraising event to purchase a new van. The charity derives most of its income from donations by individuals, corporations, grants from local government and the sale of donated items. There have been no claims for gift aid yet but an application for HMRC recognition has recently been sought. It held a large cash balance at year end due to an end of year fundraising event that couldn’t be deposited at the new Metro bank account until Post Ofce banking was granted in early 2023. Expenditure Total expenditure by the charity in 2022 was £29,096 compared with £24,746 in 2021. This has been primarily due to increases in warehousing following the rental of a further storage facility, a full year of administrative salaries, and higher transportation costs due to increased charitable activity and fuel prices. Net income / defcit for the charity The charity had a net position of income over expenditure of plus £4,063. The charity is currently writing its reserves policy.
