On event days up to 15 volunteers assist at the bandstand with various tasks, to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors attending events. The total recorded hours of volunteer activity for the period of this report were 2142 hours. Other

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	The charity continues to successfully work in partnership with Forestry England and West Dean Parish Council. During the period of this report, six events were held at the bandstand. One event (‘Young Music’ failed to attract an audience, but despite this, income from attendees from incidental lotteries, donations, and refreshments almost equalled that of the previous season, indicating the strong local support for the activities at the bandstand. The charity continues to offer four musical events as 'free to attend'. This is considered important as the Forest of Dean is recognised as 'an area of social and economic deprivation'. Events at the bandstand also attract visitors to the area, with up to 20% of the audience identifyingas visitors.

Achievements against objectives set	Para 1.41	Significant progress has been made towards installing a new permanent canopy for the bandstand which will reduce the need for a temporary canopy each summer season, including obtaining planning permission, and obtaining a 15-year (renewable) lease with Forestry England. A grant from Arts Council England for just over £74,000 has been obtained, and the Friends have raised a further £11,000 over the past four years, mostly from very generous donations from local people. Currently further capital grant match funding is being sought to enable the build of the new canopy to start in September 2025.
Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set	Para 1.41	By ring-fencing donations and collections at events, the charity has been able to establish a fund for match funding for grant applications for the new canopy. Currently the charity has over £11000 reserved for 'match funding'.

Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The Receipts and Payment figures at year end of 31st March 2025 were £20356 and £15408 respectively, resulting in a net balance of £4948. Cash funds at previous year-end were £23961, adding the net balance, the cash funds at this year-end were £28909.

The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising)	Para 1.47	The charity's principal sources of funds come from donations, and collections, incidental lotteries, sales of refreshments at events. The charity also receives income from the Forest Lottery and through Gift Aid. Fund raising through sponsorship and grant aid also provided additional support. Grant aid came from Arts Council England, and Gloucestershire County Council. The sponsors during this report period were: SPP Pumps and Forest of Dean Lions Club.

A description of the principal risks facing the charity	Para 1.46	The principal risk facing the charity is lack of grant aid to fund a temporary canopy whilst major capital funding is sought to build a new permanent canopy. Other risks potentially include insufficient volunteers to helpat event days.

Policies and procedures adopted for the induction and training of trustees	Para 1.51	The Chair of the Trustees is responsible for compliance and provides new trustees with all relevant documentation including the constitution and policies and procedures.
The charity’s organisational structure and any wider network with which the charity works	Para 1.51	The governance and management of the organisation is determined by the Constitution, which is based on the Charity Commission standard constitution for CIOs. Over-arching governance of the Friends is undertaken through the Annual General Meeting. The Secretary, Chair and Treasurer manage the organisation on a day-to-day basis but call regular general (Management Committee) meetings during the year. Members are invited to attend the Management Committee meetings when they can review the work of the Trustees and vote on any proposalspresented bythe Trustees.

		Trustee meetings are also held on an ad hoc basis.
