Church Recording Society is the national body for Church Recording Groups producing Church Records for national and local archives and legitimate users. Church Recording Society provides resources for the Church Recording Groups, which are located throughout the UK and the Isle of Man. It liaises with organisations having a common interest in the artefacts within churches.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:the Advancement Of The Arts, Culture And Heritage And The Advancement Of Education For The Public Benefit In The UK And The Isle Of Man, By:identifying, Researching, Recording And Archiving The Artefacts, Natural Features And Histories Of Present And Past Places Of Worship, Religious Sites And Buildings Of Religious Use Of Any Denomination; Education And Training Of People To Undertake These Activities; Rendering Assistance To, And Working With, Others Undertaking Similar Work For The Public Benefit; Providing And Encouraging Education About The Artistic, Historic, Cultural And Heritage Attributes Of, And The Significances Of, The Artefacts And Natural Features Through The Provision Of Publications, Media Productions, Lectures, Courses And Other Means Of Communication.nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, Section 5 Of The Charities Registration And Regulation Act 2019 (Of The Isle Of Man) And Section 2 Of The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
