Period start Date: From 1[st] January 2023 Period end date: TO 31[st] December 2023

Charity Name “ The Family & Community Group

Charity Registration Number 1192942

Objectives and Activities

The family & Community Group support children, young people, and their families, creating, facilitating activities, opportunities and developing support networks, for groups to access. We have rescued a large community Hall from permanent closure, developing its facilities and resources to to meet the charities outcomes. We now manage community facilities in Torfaen, these facilities are supporting communities, offering a wide range of recreational activities as well as developing needsbased projects to support vulnerable families in Torfaen.

Achievements and Performance

The Charity has continued to support local community facilities and promote services for families with very young children and support children with additional needs, through the provision of information and advice. The Charity has continued to support a local community facility, and working in partnership with community members, and facilitating the development of the premises that focuses on children and young people with additional needs. The facility also hosts a parenting group that makes use of services and organisations supporting the early years and promotes the growth of friendship groups and supporting parenting. We have now secured a 25-year lease on a very large community hall which has been closed for several years, we have spent a lot of time developing resources, investing time to clean, decorate and develop partnerships to promote the purposes of the charity. We continue to promote a range of service that support families with very young children, and children with additional needs. In doing so we have been working to the charities outcomes and benefitting the public, that promotes appropriate play, education, and care facilities.

The Charity has also piloted a parent and toddler group in another community venue, supporting community volunteers to set up their own group, and following this pilot, the group are now running sustainably, creating enough funds to pay for the hire of the venue, equipment to run the sessions and have access to information and advice from the charity. In doing so, we have been working towards our charitable outcomes of providing good quality information advice, as well as promoting activities for the public benefit.

Furthermore, the charity has continued to develop its website that will be used to promote projects, services, and help develop support networks, that families can access, and use to find information and support.

All trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. Over the last year the trustees for the Family & Community Group have been working hard to ensure all policies are up to date, as well as focusing on the development of our groups website. Volunteers have worked hard to help the charity develop an identity, supporting each other and working as part of a team to support our communities. The charity relies on volunteers, and it would not be possible to operate without them.
