Activities
We support children, young people, and their families, creating, facilitating activities, opportunities and developing support networks, for groups to access. We manage community facilities in Torfaen, these facilities support the communities we work with, providing a wide range of recreational activities as well as need based projects to support vulnerable groups in Torfaen
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are;to Enhance The Development And Education Of Children And Young People In Torfaen By Encouraging Parents To Understand And Provide For The Needs Of Their Children Through Community Groups And By: (A) Offering Appropriate Play, Education And Care Facilities, Family Learning And Extended Hours Groups, Together With The Right Of Parents To Take Responsibility For And To Become Involved In The Activities Of Such Groups, Ensuring That Such Groups Offer Opportunities For The Children; (B) Encouraging The Study Of The Needs Of Such Children And Their Families And Promoting Public Interest In And Recognition Of Such Needs In The Local Areas; (C) Providing Support And Quality Short Break Sessions For Children And Young People With Additional And Often Complex Needs In Order To Alleviate The Barriers Put In Place By The Child/young Person’s Disability Or Additional Need, Thus Allowing Them To Develop And Become Integrated Members Of Their Communities/society; (D) Improving Understanding Of Challenging Behaviour, Empowering Families With Information And Support, And Help Others To Provide Better Services And More Opportunities; (E) Providing Access To Good Quality Advice And Information, Broad Ranging Appropriate Support And Contact With Other Families Which Will Lead To Positive Outcomes; (F) Influencing Changes In Policy And Practice In Order To Substantially Improve The Quality Of The Lives Of Parents/carers, Families And Their Children;(g) Providing Recreational And Leisure Time Activities Provided In The Interest Of Social Welfare, Designed To Remove Barriers Put In Place By Children With Additional Needs; And(h) Providing Support And Activities Which Develop Their Skills, Capacities And Capabilities To Enable Them To Participate In Society As Mature And Responsible Individuals. Nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With [Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005] And [Section 2 Of The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008].
