Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	To develop and train young people of all classes in habits of discipline, loyalty and good citizenship, and to preserve the practice of Scouting as laid down by the Founder, the Late Lord Baden-Powell, and based on the Law and Promises given by him in ‘Scouting for Boys’.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	Providing a programme, relevant to the particular section age-group, that teaches a range of skills aiming to instil confidence and self-reliance in young people. Many of these activities are conducted in the outdoors, with four camping trips held during the period.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	No grants were awarded to any individual or group of individuals during the report period. The Trustees’ policy is to subsidise the cost of a particular activity, event or expedition, for the benefit of all those taking part, rather than award individual grants.

expended in planning and delivering an exciting programme for our young membership. The reporting period includes several months during which COVID restrictions were in place and the leaders continued to deliver a programme to the Wolf Cub, Scouts and Senior Scout sections online via Zoom, with good attendances. Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	The main achievement during the earlier part of the reporting period was to keep up the interest of young people through the COVID pandemic when face to face meetings were not allowed. This took the place of regular online Zoom meetings as referred to above. Parents and our young membership reported that this was particularly valuable as an antidote to school and homework. The online meetings also enabled a speedy ‘restart’ when face to face activities were allowed again. In terms of wider benefit, the Trustees will always support the objective of growing the young membership as we believe there is pent-up demand, particularly in the younger age groups of Beavers (6 to 8 years old) and Wolf Cubs (8 to 11 years old). However, this is constrained by the availability of leaders which is proving difficult to resolve. The pandemic also made it difficult to deliver public service projects in our area which we will aim to address during next year.

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The Charity’s financial position was particularly strong at the end of the financial period with a balance of £4,509.37 in the bank account, compared an opening balance of £1,362.24. Expenditure was lower than normal during the period due to the COVID pandemic, and the income of £5,892.92 is distorted by deposits paid for the forthcoming summer camp which falls in the next financial year.
Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held	Para 1.22	Reserves are normally held in order to subsidise activities during the next financial year, where a subsidy is required, and to provide a buffer to replace equipment which may fail unexpectedly outside the usual replacement programme.
