The charity received registration from Charities Commission (England) on 23[rd] November 2020

Trustees were appointed based on: familial and non-familial links to Christopher Richard James Tromans, who died on 5[th] April 2016. He had endured life limiting health conditions which although they affected him during his short life of 28 years, his determination, courage and effort ensured that he lived life to the full. He was and continues to be an inspiration to others, which is why the decision to establish a foundation in his name was the next step.

Trustees have been drawn from within his family of origin and life-long friends. Passion and commitment was important during the selection process but also abilities, skills and knowledge not only of the condition and health issues experienced by Christopher during his short life, but also the skills and knowledge that would be necessary to establish the foundation, including governance aspects.

Policies

The policy framework that is being established, and growing, includes:

Conflict of Interest

A Conflict of Interest Register was initiated at the Trustee meeting on 31[st] January 2021 and is now a formal part of each meeting. The Trustees confirmed that they had no conflicts of interest.

Risk management statement

The trustees take responsibility for management of risk with CRJTromans Foundation. Major risks are reviewed by the Trustees at their regular meetings and

control systems have been established to manage those risks. Ongoing risks relate to securing sustainable funding.

Public benefit statement

All trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to guidance on public benefit when exercising their duties.

Financial review

All accounts have been prepared on receipts and payments basis.

The charity had financial assets for the period ending 31[st] March 2025 of £7,154.42.The financial assets at the previous year end were £5,592.14.

Section three: Objectives and activities

Summary of the objects
of the charity set out in
its governing document
– Registration 1192489		 The Trustees shall hold the trust fund and its income
upon trust to apply them for the following objects
(“the objects”):
Preserve and protect the good health of children and
adolescents who have a liver condition by:
a. Raising awareness of the existence of and impact
of liver conditions in children and adolescents; and
b. Providing restricted donations through a
nominated specialist centre to those directly affected
by such a condition, where the child/adolescent is
receiving medical treatment in order to provide some
level of emotional respite for a nominate
child/adolescent and/or family by facilitating or
provision of a specialist treat or opportunity, such as
a birthday party, or equipment to help maintain
contact with friends and family.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to
these objects		 a. To create links/partnerships with specialist
professional clinical centres who are currently
treating children/adolescents with existing liver
conditions. Centres such as the Childrens Liver
Disease Foundation (CDLF)
b. To raise funds, in the name of Christopher Richard
James Tromans Foundation CRJTF, to make
restricted donations to specialist centres, such as
CDLF – which are restricted donations to be used
within parameters set by CRJTF that they be updated
on how the funds have been used to benefit
children/adolescents/families within the ethos of the
gift i.e. create and uplift in emotional well-being
c. From a lived experience perspective, family and
friends of Christopher Richard James Tromans will
seek opportunities to raise awareness of the impact
of liver disease on children/adolescents/families; and
the need for funds to help increase their emotional
resilience.

Section four: Achievements and performance

Financial Period 2024-25: During the financial year, the Christopher Richard James Tromans Foundation raised funds of £4,382.68. This compares with £2,989.00 in the previous year

Donations of £2,750 were made to CLDF and appropriate feedback on disbursement and outcomes was received. Funds held by the Trust at the end of the Financial Year were £7,154.42.

Trustee meetings took place predominantly via zoom.

Give As You Live has been chosen as our Donor Platform.

Work is continuing on the development of a suitable website.

Section Five: Next steps

During the next financial year 2025-26 the trustees will focus on further developing the website and a fund-raising strategy. Social media shall cascade information to the wider network of individuals who knew Christopher about the Foundation and invite to them to help us to achieve the aims set out in his name.

It shall also be our intention to adopt the 8 principles of the voluntary Charity Code of Governance.

Section Six: Acknowledgements

The establishment of the Foundation in the name of Christopher Richard James Tromans has only been possible through the commitment and dedication of family and friends.

SUMMARY OF RESTRICTED GRANTS MADE TO CLDF FOR ALLOCATION AND DISBURSEMENT

The Charity receives six monthly updates from CLDF. This includes confidential anonymous reports on individual disbursements and how these have benefited those who received such gifts via our charity.

During the past year, the Charity has provided 23 small grants

As at 31[st] March 2025, covering the whole period since restricted grants were made to CLDF, 47 small grants have been allocated. Amounts range from £50 to £150 to children and families, on our behalf.

We wish to officially give our thanks to CLDF for their willingness to assist our charity in reaching the children and families who need the assistance that was envisaged when our charity was set up in the name of Christopher Richard James Tromans (born on 5[th] of November 1987 and died on 5[th] of April 2016).
