Para 1.20		 We provided affordable resources to over
100 local schools, nurseries and community
groups, as well as over 600 families and 77
local groups.
We continue to attract valuable suppliers,
such as Bristol’s Cameron Balloons and
during this period we secured a regular
supply of materials from Ikea Bristol, which
have proved immensely popular with
members. Swaps with Scrapstores in
Bristol, Glastonbury, Plymouth and Cardiff
also ensured a varied stock during the
period.
Community Scrapstore North Somerset has
continued to supply local creative
organisations, such as From the Mud
Theatre Group, Weston Artspace and
Super Culture and has also hosted creative
workshops in its building. Visibility at
Weston’s second Climate Carnival boosted
the number of local members at the end of
the summer.
The Scrapstore started to open for one
extra day per week.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period		 Para 1.21 Expenditure exceeded income this year,
reducing funds held at the year end to
£3,574, although rent and energy costs
for the next quarter were paid in
advance. This marginally breached our
policy on reserves, and arrangements
were made to apply for further grant
funding. At the same time, negotiations
were commenced with our landlord’s
agents, with a view to securing early
release of the lease deposit we had paid
at the commencement of our tenancy in
July 2021.

Independent examiners report to the Trustees of Community Scrapstore North Somerset

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts for Community Scrapstore North Somerset (“the charity”) for the year ended 30 June 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the 2011 Act; or 2. the accounts do not comply with these records

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
