Annual report 1st April 22 to 31 March 2023
Aims & Objectives
Joels Goals initial aim was to provides support for young victims and families of children that have been subjected to hate crime. This work has progressed to work with those with Mental health issues, that could lead to suicidal thoughts, after being subjected to hate crimes, or PTSD after witnessing or finding a suicide victim. We continue to listen and provide advice guidance and practical support referencing agencies to alleviate their sense of hurt, shock and loneliness. We provide a listening ear and a range of health improving materials, both independently or via our referral partners.
Summary of activities,
April 2022
Our founder Ruth Crockett, mother of Joel, and the Florence instituted set up a bereavement for mothers/fathers of those who had lost a child. This gave those affected with sudden loss of a child, a safe place to talk with peers affected by the same loss. The group did activities such as a barge trip along the Lancashire canal, this peaceful activity allowed reflection, discussion for 8 attendees.
This group was weekly and continued throughout April & May. Ruth is still in contact with a number of the group, continuing to offer that listening ear.
May 2022
No specific outward activities, continuing to support the vulnerable via social media and partners.
June 2022
Walk & Talk group established, fun day wearing 80’s attire, the route was around Liverpool City Centre, to raise awareness of the charity and its activities. There were 16 people that walked so a great turnout it also raised.
July 2022 – August 2022
Continued support for those who attended the walk and talk event. Looking to bring on a wider group of trustees, to support the core group. By 2024 we are looking for 4-5 additional trustees, with a wider blend of diversity and experience. Continued work online,

September 2022
New members joining the bereavement group at the Florrie, 4 parents of recently bereaved, coming together to talk about their experiences. Continued online presence.
October 2022
Trustees agreed after receiving feedback from Secondary schools that a short film, using Joels experience as a victim of revenge pornography to help educate young people of the dangers. This led us to work with Act for Action (11699405) this community interest company (CIC) is headed by two of Joels teachers, who taught Drama at BankView School and now run their CIC. Initials costs and plan made by brainstorming ideas face to face or online.
November 2022
Continued socials & online support,
December 2022
Table sale at the Irish centre raising awareness to Joels goals charity and the mental health support. The event was attended by several other charities this enabled us to meet some good contacts across the city.
January 2023
Continued to make plans for the film late in 2023, Continued social and online support for vulnerable, Members of the Walk and Talk group walked from Old Trafford to Anfield, walked in collaboration with The James Greenop Foundation (1164640). Funds raised and awareness on route for both charities.
February 2023 – March 2023
Continued online support for those who are vulnerable. Scoping of film, scripts and arranging venue for filming.
No outward fundraising, however starting to receive monthly donations and support.

We appointed a new Trustee Jacqueline Wall in
May 2023, Jacqui has worked within community support for over 10 years and has a breadth of experience working with vulnerable people.
Charity Commission updates are distributed across the trustees.

The Charity continues to work across Merseyside, on two occasion we have had to sign post wider for other support in London and the Northeast of England.
Financial report
Fundraising has once again been the main form of revenue for the charity, there was however, a large charitable donation of £2500.00 made by Catax a Ryan company Ltd, to support with the filmmaking.
Due to the level activity, the trustees agreed an annual reserve of £1000 will be held. The decision was based on the delayed film production payment, returns from sales expected in 23-24, should be significantly higher than the return.
