Activities for the year July 2023 to June 2024 include: Ongoing activities within the community: Monthly cinema evenings for the Shipston on Stour Community. These are very much a community provision rather than a charity fund raising event and average a very small profit of less than £100 per night/month Providing two drivers for the weekly shop at the Shipston Food Bank Regularly maintaining the Gyratory Memorial Garden for community use Continuing to support the concept and development of a Men’s Shed for the Shipston community. Fund raising for causes, both local, national and international Focus from January to September 2024: In January 2024, the Stour Valley Lions committed to raising money specifically for the Shipston First Responders to replace their aging emergency vehicle. This was completed through a range of fund-raising activities from January to September. In total, £12,916 has been transferred to the Shipston First Responders from the Stour Valley Lions. Specific Donations, Activities and events from 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024 include: July 2023: Supporting establishment of GLOSS (Shipston Women’s Group) by paying first year’s insurance August 2023: Paying for Shipston’s Holidays at Home provision Providing Parking Marshalls for Brailes Show September 2023: Paying for Shipston High School to have the ‘Prison Me - No Way’ experience for their students. Providing money to purchase white goods for a Shipston resident in need October 2023 Donation of £1650 to the Shipston Food Bank from the profits of the 2023 Food Festival Donation of £500 (approx.) to a Shipston resident to purchase a cooker Maintenance work on the Gazebo at Stour Court (Support) November 2023 Craft and Book Fair at the Townsend Hall (Fund Raising and supporting local crafters) |

| Contribution made by volunteers | The Stour Valley Lions could not operate without the voluntary work of its members with more than 200 hours a month being given to further the activities and administration of the club. During the year 2022-2023 the club had 4 Trustees and 11 members. None of the members are paid for their time. |

Achievements and Performance

The Stour Valley Lions encourage residents of the Shipston community to request support on behalf of themselves, another individual or organisation. All requests are considered and support provided financially or in kind as appropriate to the circumstances. In the period July 2023 to June 2024, we had an income into our Charity Account of £34,209.13 and expenditure of £34,279.17. We donated £20,056.32 in grants to worthwhile causes. From this, £1,665.60 (8% of grants) was granted to humanitarian causes beyond our local area including those targeting specific globally publicised disasters. Specific targeted legacies and awards have enabled us to donate £18,390.72 (92% of grants) to causes solely in the Shipston Town and Stour Valley area. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of the community and sometimes that means hosting events that either run at a loss, or are totally funded by the Lions, with no attempt to recoup costs. A look at our Events website shows monthly Cinema evenings which, more often than not, break even and events such as the Free Film and Afternoon Tea event for Shipston’s senior residents held in January 2024 which are paid for totally from our fund raising account |

We organise and present a number of events and activities for which we have a number of up-front payments. In the vast majority of cases, these are covered by income from the event. However, it is important that we hold sufficient reserves to allow us to plan events and activities without resorting to members having to use their own money. We aim to retain £3000 for this as cashflow. Other reserves are held as they are ringfenced for specific spending under the rules set by the Legacy trustees. These are accounted for separately, but not yet spent. We support a variety of worthy causes in the Community, both through The Lions’ Den; a Public Application process, and through funds donated to causes bought to our attention, debated against the Public Benefit guidance by our members and granted as agreed. These grants are held in a Commitment Reserve as required. |

Membership – in order to maintain our current provision of activities and events, we have a significant reliance on quantity, physical ability and succession planning. Recruitment of new members is vital to our future security. Motivation of volunteers – We rely on members preparedness to give time and energy to our activities. This has undeniable association with the success of our events Reputation – SVL have a reputation for supporting the Community and delivering on our commitments. Cancellation of Events / Unsuccessful events – As with all event planning, there is an element of risk, however SVL operate and make decisions on a low-risk basis with due diligence taken throughout the planning stage. Event income that could potentially be refunded in the event of cancellation is withheld until after the event. |

The Stour Valley Lions were established in 1981 and is run by a committee of 4 Registered Trustees. Membership of the club is open to anyone and we meet monthly for a public business meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm at The George Townhouse, Shipston on Stour. During the year July 2023 to June 2024 the club had 16 full members the majority of whom live within the Stour Valley. |

Independent Accountants Report on the Annual Accounts for the Stour Valley Lions Club
This report is made to the Stour Valley Lions Club for issue with the Annual Accounts for the year ended 30[th] June 2024.
Our work has been undertaken to enable us to make this report to the Stour Valley Lions Club and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept responsibility to anyone other than the Stour Valley Lions Club as a body for our work or for this report. The procedures performed did not constitute an audit or a review of any kind and were not designed to provide any assurance regarding whether the figures are accurate, whether the services were provided effectively and on the governance processes.
We have examined the Annual Accounts for the year ended 30[th] June 2024. We consider that the statements have been correctly extracted from the books and records of the Stour Valley Lions Club and are sufficiently supported by accounts, receipts and other documents which have been provided to us by the Stour Valley Lions Club.
