Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	Grants and support are our main expenditure. Eg. Holiday at Home, Food Bank, Shipston First Responders, Ekica Sponsorship, Cooker for a local resident, Disability Football Team kits, etc. …. Lions Den Guidance is issued to recipients of grants and support on their responsibilities for spending the money within the criteria against which it was granted. Recipients sign contracts which to agree to them complying with the guidance and only spending in line with our Purchasing and Procurement Policy.
Policy on social investment including program related investment	Para 1.38	Social investment is a main factor in the allocation and use of our monies to benefit the Stour Valley community wellbeing. Eg. OAP tea party, Gyratory Garden purchases, Mending the Rainbow Field Shed & London Road bench, etc. The club considers each area identified for support, individually on its merits, responding to local needs as a priority
Contribution made by volunteers	Para 1.38	The Stour Valley Lions could not operate without the voluntary work of its members with more than 200 hours a month being given to further the activities and administration of the club. During the year 2022-2023 the club had 4 Trustees and 7 members. None of the members are paid for their time.

Achievements and Performance

The Stour Valley Lions encourage any member of the Shipston community to request support on behalf of themselves, another individual or organisation. All requests are considered and support provided both financially or in kind as appropriate to the circumstances.

In this financial year, we donated around £20,000 to worthwhile causes. From this, around £2500 (most from specific targeted “bucket shakes”) has been donated to humanitarian causes beyond our local area including those targeting specific globally publicised disasters. Specific targeted legacies and awards have enabled us to donate around £17500 to causes solely in the Shipston Town and Stour Valley area.

We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of the community and sometime that means hosting events that either run at a loss, or are totally funded by the Lions with no attempt to recoup costs. A look at our Events website shows monthly Cinema evenings which, more often than not, break even and events such as the Free Film and Afternoon Tea event for Shipston’s senior residents to be held in January 2024 which are paid for totally from our fund raising account.

In the vast majority of cases, these are covered by income from the event. However, it is important that we hold sufficient reserves to allow us to plan events and activities without resorting to members having to use their own money. Other reserves are held as they are ringfenced for specific spending under the rules set by the Legacy trustees. These are accounted for but not yet spent. Plans are being developed for wider promotion of our ability to support worthy causes in the Community which will be initiated in 2023-24 that will

		result in a further reduction in reserves.

Structure, Governance and Management

Description of charity’s trusts:		The Stour Valley Lions were established in 1981 and is run by a committee of 4 Registered Trustees. Membership of the club is open to anyone and we meet monthly for a public business meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm at The George Townhouse, Shipston on Stour. During the year July 2022 to June 2023 the club had 14 full members the majority of whom live within the Stour Valley.
