The benefit arising from the workshops is enhanced training of young composers by experienced composers, and public presentation and appreciation of their new work. No harm can come of any of these activities. The ultimate beneficiaries of both activities are members of the general public. No private benefit arises from these activities. The benefits are evidenced by good reports in feedback forms returned by the audience, and the enthusiasm of the young composers about the workshops and good attendance at the resulting concerts.

Para 1.20	In 2021 the concert series and other activities including workshops were disrupted by the Government’s Covid restrictions. No concerts were allowed to take place as originally planned until the autumn of 2021, after a gap of nearly 18 months. When they finally could return, the charity successfully presented its full set of lunchtime and evening concerts in its 2021-22 concert series as planned. Audiences had the benefit of the return of live music, hearing new compositions including world premieres, and enhanced appreciation through the educational talks. They were enthusiastic about the return of live music, and the music itself, as evidenced both in conversations and by the response in feedback forms. (The student workshops occurred in 2022, outside the scope of this report.)
