The Gwent Baptist Association, part of the overall strurture of the Baptist Union of Wales, represents and assists a network of independent Baptist ChUrd￿ and Chapels in Gwent. Board of Trustees The charity is organised, and policy im￿emented through the board of trijstees who normally meet once a half scholastic terni. Election to the Board Trustees are elected from membership with one trustee ap￿inted by the Baptist Union of Wales. OBJECTIVES AND ACTDirrIES The object of the Association is the advan￿ment of the Christian religion in the county of Gwent according to the principles of the Baptist denominatim. The Association operates, but not exclusively, through ary of tre following means: to spread the Gcth News of Jesus Christ as revealed in the &ble; tO SUPFK)rt churches in Gwent in maintaining ministries and a￿sting them in engaging in mission work; to nurture among its members respe¢ love and co-OFEration for and with one another while acthowledging the Independen￿ of every church in matters relating to tts own govemrnent and discipline. to confer and seek ctroperation with Bapb'sts in Gwent and other parts of Wales and the Ull and with other churches and Chrlst¢an bodies In matters rdating to the ￿ng￿l0M of Chrlx to safeguard the properties and interests of the Ass(xiation and the thurches, and to consider the most appropriate means to nurture ttr￿e re￿Ur￿ the gJ(Kl of the ASs￿iation, churches and the Kingdom of Christ; tO Use any other means in hamiony with the main aim of the Ass(Kiation, as decided by the Ass￿lation'S Council from time to time, in order to fijrther the work of the denomination in Gwent. The Ass¢xiation awards grants from time to time to churthes in the denomination to help cover the costs of ministy. It also makes small grants (up to £2,0(KJ) to churches and other organisations who arrange community acbmties and initiatives with a clear"mission f￿$". THE GWE￿ BA￿ ASSCUATION TRU￿ES, REF>ORT PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Gwent Baptist Ass(Klati￿ has continued to serve its Churches throughout the year due, in large part, to the ongoing faithfulness, enthusiasm and hard Y￿rk of our Office￿ and the support of the Baptist Union of Wales and pather organisations. We have continued to offer particular supp)rt to the fdlowship at Zion Baptist Church, Cwmcarn - encouraging their Membe￿ through faalitating a monthly Ladies Fellowship and monthly Bible s￿dY and are thrilled to see the Church growing in numLws and in a desire to reach out to its communty through a Focxl Pantry and Wami Space initiative. We have also continued our sup￿rt of the l(xal youth initiattve, Tr Gathering, providing financial support to help cover the monthly cost of providing free fcmxl the young FEople who attend, the Furchasing of youth appropriate bibles as well as providing the voluntEer team with The Gathering, T-shirts. This has enabled the work to continue to run monthty and iFKleed see growth as more Churthes in the Association begin to bring young people along. We recognise that many of our Churthes are under increasing pressure from the Cost-of-knving Crisis and have been able to prayerfvl and financially SUPFQrt some ministres through grants (often in pathership with the Baptist Union of Wales). We have also sought to be more proactive in assisting Churches with the many challenges they fa￿ by introdu(ing a new Structu￿ to the gJperintendenry. We now have a team of Superintendents who actively seek to better support the local churches - answering questions an)und govemance, day to day matters as well as helping with any spirtttial concems. The Association is presenty in discusgcffis with the Baptist Union of Wales aLM)ut fuknre organisational stNcture. Our Annual Meeting was hugely successful. We met at Upper Trosnant Baptist Church, PontypKrf)l and Mr. Christian Williams (BUW Projetts Officer and Corp)r7tion Coordinator) stK)ke to us from Acts 2. Officers have continued to meet regularly and the Gwent Baptist As5oKiation Ministers Space (facilitsted by Rev Richard Miles) has been very much appreciated by those who attend. Whilst our Missional workers. Jeff and ￿nda Kim (frIMn Los Angeles), have completed their time in Wales and returned to America, we were thrilled to welcome a number of energetic and skilled workers from the USA who joined a number of our Churches throughout the SUMM￿ as they faalitsted Holiday Bible Clubs for Children.
