THE GWE￿ BA￿ ASSCUATION
TRU￿ES, REF>ORT
PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2024
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Gwent Baptist Ass(Klati￿ has continued to serve its Churches throughout the year due, in large part, to
the ongoing faithfulness, enthusiasm and hard Y￿rk of our Office￿ and the support of the Baptist Union of
Wales and pather organisations.
We have continued to offer particular supp)rt to the fdlowship at Zion Baptist Church, Cwmcarn -
encouraging their Membe￿ through faalitating a monthly Ladies Fellowship and monthly Bible s￿dY and
are thrilled to see the Church growing in numLws and in a desire to reach out to its communty through a
Focxl Pantry and Wami Space initiative.
We have also continued our sup￿rt of the l(xal youth initiattve, Tr Gathering, providing financial support
to help cover the monthly cost of providing free fcmxl the young FEople who attend, the Furchasing of
youth appropriate bibles as well as providing the voluntEer team with The Gathering, T-shirts. This has
enabled the work to continue to run monthty and iFKleed see growth as more Churthes in the Association
begin to bring young people along.
We recognise that many of our Churthes are under increasing pressure from the Cost-of-knving Crisis and
have been able to prayerfvl and financially SUPFQrt some ministres through grants (often in pathership
with the Baptist Union of Wales). We have also sought to be more proactive in assisting Churches with the
many challenges they fa￿ by introdu(ing a new Structu￿ to the gJperintendenry. We now have a team
of Superintendents who actively seek to better support the local churches - answering questions an)und
govemance, day to day matters as well as helping with any spirtttial concems.
The Association is presenty in discusgcffis with the Baptist Union of Wales aLM)ut fuknre organisational
stNcture.
Our Annual Meeting was hugely successful. We met at Upper Trosnant Baptist Church, PontypKrf)l and Mr.
Christian Williams (BUW Projetts Officer and Corp)r7tion Coordinator) stK)ke to us from Acts 2.
Officers have continued to meet regularly and the Gwent Baptist As5oKiation Ministers Space (facilitsted by
Rev Richard Miles) has been very much appreciated by those who attend.
Whilst our Missional workers. Jeff and ￿nda Kim (frIMn Los Angeles), have completed their time in Wales
and returned to America, we were thrilled to welcome a number of energetic and skilled workers from the
USA who joined a number of our Churches throughout the SUMM￿ as they faalitsted Holiday Bible Clubs
for Children.
