Glanwydden & Valley Community Trust – Ymddiriedolaeth Cymunedol Brow Glanwydden

Charity Registration Number: 1190984

Objectives & Activities

Purposes of
the charity
as set out
in its
governing
document
“To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social
welfare for the recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who
have need of such facilities by reason of the their youth, age, infrmity, or
disability, fnancial hardship or social circumstances with the object of
improving their conditions of life”
Public
Beneft &
Projects
Run in order to improve physical & mental wellbeing for villagers, workers &
visitors to the Glanwydden & Llangwstenin area.
Village Bank Improvement project
Following written & verbal consultation at village meetings, a consensus was
reached to improve the common piece of ground in the village known as the
‘Bank’. Planting for pollinators to encourage insect life; adapting the unused
phone box to a Seed & Swap Bank.
Considerable collective efort expended to plant. water, weed & tend the
Bank in time for the King’s Coronation. It went on to win Overall Gold in
Llandudno in Bloom Community Gardening Category
Awards for All Coronation Award
We were successful in applying for both local support for our Community
Coronation celebration & also the National Lottery Awards for All Coronation
Award. It was intended that we would purchase 4 large tents, a sound
system & additional equipment to be able to stage a Coronation Street Party,
Vintage Bus Rides & have the legacy of the tentage & equipment to create
much needed covered space for our community to gather.
However, the funding for the Coronation weekend came through too late for
the purchase of the tents & equipment. Nevertheless, our village pub
ofered to host our gathering in its stable yard & we held a very successful &
inclusive gathering there having begged & borrowed gazebos for the
purpose.
It was agreed that further village events would be held that summer &
autumn & the equipment ordered in good time.
Trustee sickness & extremely poor weather meant that intended events were
postponed repeatedly. A decision was then made & approved by Awards for
All to purchase the equipment in the Spring of 2024.
Outdoor Village Remembrance Service
Villages gathered to remember the Fallen of all conficts.
Future
Projects
Through informal & written consultation, it was established that the poor
state of the village play park equipment was a concern for many families in
the village.
We therefore spent many hours, Autumn 2023, writing a UKSPF application
to revive & renew the outdated equipment. £32,000 was applied for & a
project management group identifed in preparation. Further info was
requested but the decision delayed until Jan 2024.
Summary A quiet year with high points of the Coronation weekend, the work on the
award winning Bank & the Seed Bank & planning for the future of the Play
Park for our children.
