The awards were distributed across various categories, acknowledging achievements in academics, community service, culture, and leadership. Each category aimed to showcase the diverse talents and contributions of the Sudanese youth. The Sudanese Community Awards Evening for Young People was a resounding success, providing a platform to honour and celebrate the accomplishments of the youth. The event not only recognised individual achievements but also strengthened community bonds and inspired the next generation to strive for excellence in various fields. The positive impact of this evening is expected to resonate within the Sudanese community for years to come.
Sudanese Culture day: The Sudanese Culture Event held in the summer at Buckland Community Centre was a vibrant celebration of Sudanese heritage, bringing together community members and enthusiasts to showcase the rich cultural tapestry of Sudan. The event aimed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Sudanese traditions, art, music, and cuisine as well as raising funds for medical aids in support of Sudan Doctors’ UK efforts for providing medical reliefs to Sudan.
The event featured a vibrant display of Sudanese art and crafts, face painting, sculptures, and traditional handcrafted items provided insights into the history, customs, and traditions of Sudan.
Live performances of traditional Sudanese music and dance captivated the audience. Different regions and ethnic groups were represented, highlighting the diversity of Sudanese musical and dance traditions.
A food festival showcased the richness of Sudanese cuisine, offering a variety of traditional dishes. Attendees had the chance to savour flavours from different regions of Sudan, promoting a culinary journey through the country.
The Sudanese Culture Event successfully brought together the community to celebrate, educate, and promote the diverse cultural heritage of Sudan. Through a variety of engaging activities, attendees gained a deeper appreciation for Sudanese traditions, fostering a sense of pride and unity within the community. The event's success is a testament to the importance of preserving and sharing cultural heritage in a globalised world.
The cultural day also raised £1401 for medical aids initiative in Sudan led by Sudan Doctors’ UK. A representative of Sudan Doctors in the UK shared insights into the current healthcare landscape and the impact of the funds raised. Their speeches emphasised the urgency and importance of supporting medical aid initiatives. Stephan Morgan MP was one of most distinguished guest who attended the event and gave an influential speech. The event not only raised funds but also increased awareness about the healthcare challenges faced by the Sudanese population. The success of this fundraiser serves as a testament to the compassion and generosity of the community, making a significant impact on the ongoing medical aids efforts in Sudan.
Ramadan Gathering
Weekly Iftar, the gathering to break the fast, held every Saturday throughout the holy month of Ramadan at St Lukes Church which has significance effect in strengthening community bonds and promoting unity during this sacred month.
The Iftar gathering was a tremendous show of real community spirit and fantastic sense of togetherness. they shared dishes, ate and prayed together, and discussed issues affecting the community.
The Eid Celebration BBQ celebration held at the end of Ramadan. It was a resounding success, bringing together people from different backgrounds to celebrate the joyous occasion. The combination of delicious food, engaging activities, and a warm sense of community made it an event to be cherished and remembered.
The diverse group of attendees reflected the multicultural nature of the community, emphasising the universal theme of unity during Eid.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023. As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of Responsibilities and basis of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). report I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under s145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under s145(5)(b) of the Act.
