Membership of the organisation is open to all people from Sudanese origin who reside in Portsmouth locality and its surroundings. The trustees oversee the day to day running of thecommunity group. The trustees seek the views of members. There is a child protection policy in place. Criminal Records Bureau checks are carried out prior to commencement of volunteering or trusteeship and checks are carried out again in line with statutory requirements. SCIP is partnered with The Sudanese Community School in Portsmouth with whom we jointly undertake some activities which aimed to help children and youths such as Homework Club and skills sessions. All trustees give their time voluntarily and received no remuneration or other benefits. |

Objectives and activities
To promote the advancement of citizenship and Summary of the objects of the community development for the public benefit by charity set out in its working with people in and around Portsmouth who are governing document socially excluded on the grounds of their ethnic origin, religion, belief or creed, in particular members of the Sudanese community, to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society. In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. Summary of the main The main activities are as follows:

Post Covid-19 community engagement activities a programme of youth orientated events and sport activities. Partnership and collaboration with other community groups and local authority to bring communities together. These activities benefit members their selfconfidence and social skills, raise their health aware skills and address issues of isolations, social inclusion and integration in society.

We are grateful for the many hours volunteers, including member volunteers, have spent delivering our activities. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not have been able to achieve so much.
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity Post pandemic programme: during the year. We worked with local and health authorities to raise health awareness, in particular the importance of vaccination and organised vaccination day in association with NHS and local authorities. We encouraged our members through online forums and virtual meetings to participate in vaccination programs. About 16 members of our community responded and received second dose. We also provided hot meal for staff at vaccination centre. Sport activities: our youth oriented group continues to have regular football sessions and participated in community football tournament that include teams from several ethnics minority teams and Hampshire Constabulary team. It was a great opportunity to bring communities together. Skills sessions: The skills sessions were r e g u l a rly attended by over a dozen newly arrived members who needed help and support in filling applications forms and accessing services. Virtual meeting and consultation were also organised to address issues of isolation and understanding the life in the UK We worked with our partner, The Sudanese Community School and helped them to secure community centre as a venue to provide extra support for children and young people with their school work in effort to bridge the gap caused by pandemic in the previous years. Social gathering: we continued to organise weekly group Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramadan. About 21 families regularly attended group Iftar each Saturday at St Luke Church during Ramadan. We also celebrated the Eid (end of Ramadan) by organising a BBQ at Southsea Common. These activities are important for social inclusion.

The coming year will see a continued emphasis on youths, children new commers projects. We also aim to devise special programs for women by means of training and skills sessions.
