Section C Objectives and activities

Summary of the objects of
the charity set out in its
Governing Document
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for
the public benefit in
relation to these objects
(include within this
section the statutory
declaration that trustees
have had regard to the
guidance issued by the
Charity Commission on
public benefit)
Charitable Objects:
to advance and promote for the public benefit the performing arts
generally and in particular but not exclusively, music, dance,
speech and drama.
Objectives generally:
• to organise live performing arts events that introduce the public
to new and emerging performing artists and artists who defy
easy categorisation;
• to commission new writing and making of performing arts
works;
• to arrange educational workshops, lectures and debates;
• to commission research into performing arts related fields;
to work with groups and individuals who support the aims of the
charity;
Overview
Although our input is time limited (all trustees are in regular
employment ) we continue to work towards the realisation of our
charitable objects. As can be imagined, the major challenge facing
us as a starter charity is access to funding for projects.
Meetings
Since April 2022 the trustees have met regularly to work on the
development of the charity.
Trustees and Patrons
We have continued to search for and recruit patrons. Our trustee
numbers have now stabilised and we expect the current trustee
board to be committed to running the charity in the longer term.
Memberships
SKAPA has registered membership with both Metro GAVS and
Community Southwark. We have met online with representatives of
Community Southwark in order to discuss and further the charity’s
development.
Guidance
All trustees have been issued with a copy of Charity Commission
Guidance document PB1, Public benefit, the public benefit
requirement.
