Para 1.20 | Our event Balancing Life with OI focuses on "Surgery & Treatment" Celebrating Wishbone Day. 2023. The event aimed at calling all African OI organizations together with the purpose of support, collaboration, and networking within African and Western OI groups/organizations for a reasonable cause of life and treatment action in Africa and across the globe for Oiers. Our main speaker Dr. Adolfredo Santana a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon, Doctor in Medicine (M.D.) J. M Vargas School of Medicine. The Central University of Venezuela. Caracas, Venezuela. We were also honoured to have the President of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Federation Europe, Ingunn Westerheim who was also a speaker at the event, and Dagma Mekking, Director, Care4brittlebone, Netherlands. The event was very focused on oi corrective surgery, it was very informative and engaging as Dr Adolfredo Santana took us on a ride in a transformational world of wonder in an oi surgical theatre. We also carried fundraising event both physically event, webinars and on social media as we fundraised to support Oi Nigerian children the required corrective surgery. We also raised awareness programmes on several occasions both on social media etc of which we were contacted byfewpeople who |

had oi and we were able to channel them the right direction for help. Over 200 women from the UK and different African countries benefited from our women’s programme this year as we held women only meeting, talking about “self-care, “My Me Time” taking care of your mental health as it relates to carers. women and female carers and many oi children benefited for treatment of bisphosphonate outside the UK, including training a few African doctors on Oi and treatment across Africa. African OI organizations came together to celebrate the international Wishbone Day, this has brought Oi people closer, relating together. It has also fostered good relationship among oi’ers across the globe which has also impacted positively to their mental health. We have also help programmes on mental health, support oiers and non oiers with information and directing them to the right root for further help and support.
