Section C Ob'ectives and activities Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its govorning document The advancemerrt of amateur swrt, by the promotion of the game of ricket, for the benefft of the residents of Boughton Aluph and the surrounding area. Our raison d'ètre is the playing of the game of cricket on an amateur basis. This indudes the promotion of the game, the coathing of those wishing to play and any ancillary activities associated with these including organising matd, managing. and maintaining the facilities and equipment required, the supply of Umpi$, scorers and others that make each game go smoothly and the preparation and maintenance of the playing faolities and prtch. Up until Covid intervened, aGtivities would have induded supplying teas and refreshments on match days, the management of transport and kit and the organising of regular sccial events to help maintain a friendly and welcoming atsnosphere in the club. We support and parts'cipate in local Cricket leagues as well as maintaining long-stsnding mutually supportive relationships wrth other local cricket clubs from arourKI the ¢ounty and beyond. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefft) Fundraisiro is done to maintsin and improve and upgrade the equipment and facilities. In all these ath"vities the Trustees have due regard to the guidance issued by the Chanty Commission on public benefit.
Additional details of objectives and aclivities (Optional inforniation) We organise cri¢ket matthes, practices etc. for a range of teams which play home games at the pavilion that we manage and maintain on the beautiful village green at Boughton Aluph. a few miles North of Ashford in Kent. We have volunteers involved in fund raisiThJ and continue to invest in a major project to repla the cricket pavilion. Fund raising has been affected by the pandemic with the availability of capital grants and donatKJns highly impaded and, of course, less Ghan for face-to-face contact also redUS fund raising effectiveness. However, our team remains resilient and continues to make the most of things With ongoing efforts aimed at th the membership and the wider communty. They also continually monitor and invest time and effort in the availabilty of grants and sponsorship from both public and private sour¢es. Activities included the making and selling of Christmas wreaths and the baking and selling of cakes at the village Scarecrow Safari held in the summer. You may Ghoos8 to include further statements, where relevant. about: On 25 June 2021, 15 Club memtws and friends set off from the ground to Win a 100-mi figure of eight SFrf)nsored wde ride down onto Romney Marsh and back. raising funds for the new pavilion and Cancer Research UK. The same feat was repeated the next day, reversing the roLrte and a total of £15.190 was raised, £7,000 being donated to Cancer Researth in memory of 2 dear fn"end5, wilh £8,190 going towards the new pavilion. poliw on grant makirKJ. policy programme related investment. contribLrtion made by volunteers. There was a good attendance at the Annual Presentation Dinner held in October at The Secret Garden. Mersham Le Hatch, where, between courses, awards were presented to deserving winners from our various teams. Every year the dub has helped the residents of Boughton Aluph to organise and run the Boughton Fayre, an annual event that attracts large crowds to the green in the summer. Hopefully, the easing of pandemic regulations Wbll allow this event and other social events to resume. The trustees. tIng aware of the recent changes that have come aboLrt to the costs and supply chain problems of building materials, have sensibly and prudently looked at attemakn'ves to the projected new pavilion and have liaised WTlh Passmores portab Buildings Ltd to design and develop an altemative replament for our ouldated and unsuitable pavilion. The plan continues to be for a building which will enhance the beautsful wllage green where it is to be sited and which also meets modem safety and aCSsIbl1ty standards, meaning it will be entirely suilable to enable the safe and sensible enjoyment of cricket for young and old alike.
Summary ofthe main achievements of the charity during the year Playing numbers have rarely been better, with members generally available for selection week in week out. enabling us, this summer, to field three adutt elevens over the course of many weekends. It is probably fair to say. that rf we look at this yearfs playing numbers pro rata for a whole season and then compare it to previous years, 2021 has been one of the best ever. Desptte understandable unrtainty, we managed a full season of crtcket and the game at Boughton & Eastwell CC conts'nues to thrive. Cricket along with many other social activities has been affected by the ongoing pandemic. From postponed intemats"onals down to the wearing of masks and a one-way system, even in our small pavilion. Our volunteers continued to fa the challenges, managing to arrange coaGhing sessions and matches for colts and as mentioned, hosting a good range of league games and friendlies for our adult teams. Understandable non-availability of some senior players. changing soaal distancing regulations and even regular hand sanitizing on the fietd of play were among the problems that our volunteer5 deatt with over season. Our Ground Staff volunteers have quite simply excelled. Wrthout them we would not have had a Chan to practice and play. They were preparing tables, wickets, and ouffields long before the season's action started, and our investment in a new roSler also underpins our commitment to produce better qualrty falitieS. Our volunteers, whilst maintaining the cricket facilities also maintain the wider village green Vre our clubhouse and playing Surfa is to be found. We have recently invested a considerable amount in a moveable practice net to enable dub prac*ices to take pla. Boughton & Eastwell CC now has an established and very proud tradition of developing the younger set and the CArm5n$ were very much against us in respect of stsging any youth cricket as we moved into summer. However. gradual relaxing of rules enabled us to run our Saturday moming youth coaching sessions, albett for limited number5 intb'ally, in line govemment and ECB guidelines. These were complemented by a small number of competitive games as we did our best. The Coaches Step up and performed way above and beyond the call of duty. We had 2 teams playing in the Ashford & District Junior Cricket League at Under 13 and Under 15 levels and we are immensely proud to report that the Under 15s won their league arKI the Under 13s were runners-up in theirs. on senior matches commenced. the resFM)nsibilities on match day for our captai seemed to multiply ovemight and these coupled with no pavilion entry or tea consumpts.on really did change the complexion of match days. Despite this. availabilty took off as players showed their desire to make up for lost time, and after a short period of Saturday and Sunday games. we started to field three teams ovei the weekends. Many of our past colts sknll play cricket for our senior teams. but we also saw an influx of under-1 &member availabilty and thus a nice headathe was created for our Club Captain as he juggled the pack, as well as needing to source extra opposition. week in week OUL We have an exlIent relationship with members of the lo¢al parish counGÉl, the local public house. various local businesses that sponsor us and the wider village ¢ommunty.
