The administrative office and operational address is: 3 Ladymead Portishead Bristol BS20 7LJ Trustees at the date of this report: Paul Bridgen Linda Denning Stewart French Andrew McBride Adrian Workman Bankers: Natwest Bank PIC 25 High Street Portishead Bristol BS20 6BL Structure. governance and management The club was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 26 May 2020 but remained dormant until 1 July 2021 when all assets and activities of the Lions Club of Portishead (established 1970) and their Charitable Trust Fund (charity number 280224) were transferred to the CIO. The trustees include the president, past president, secretsry and treasurer of the club and are elected by the members. In selecting individuals for the positions of OffirS and trustees the members must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experien required for the effective administration of the charity- Objective3 and activities The objectives of the Club include encouraging members to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the local and wider community and to serve their community without personal reward, to relieve povety and to support those in need and to participate in projects that advance heatth or the saving of lives.
Activities include raising funds and providing sepiice to support local organisations and community groups and to support Lions District projects and those of the Lions Club International Foundations, who provide support and relief to people worldwide. Public beneflt The trustees are of the opinion that they have complied with the duty in section 17(5) of the 2011 Charities Act to have due regard to public benefrt guidan published by the Charity Commission. We do not charge for the ServIS that we provide and a significant proportion of the activities that we undertake are to support those in financial need. Achievements and perfomiance We continue to maintain, and where necessary replace. the 34 Public Access Defibrillators that we have installed in Portishead and surrounding villages and continue to raise public awareness regarding their location and use. During December 2024 we raised over £10,000 from our Santa float and activities at the Portishead Street fair. We held two sucSsful car boot sales during 2024125 and raised funds from our Easter float and flamingos. We also had a successful collection of supplies for Ukraine and raised more than £1000 in donations. Donations given and services provided during the year include ongoing monthly support to the Portishead food bank, maintenance support to the Portishead Youth and Community Centre, and the provision of financial and practical support to many other local individuals and organisations. In addition. we have supported appeals made by Lions Club Intemational Foundation for donations to support worldwide disasters and emergencies, including providing donations to support people in Ukraine. Financial review The club achieved a surplus for the year of £5.648 and has sufficient funds to meet its ongoing financial commitments. On 30 June 2025 the club had restricted reseNes amounting to £27.044 and unrestricted reserves amounting to £26,255.
