| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Over the past 12 months, the charity has enabled more than 100 training sessions with participants ranging from school- age youngsters, adult learners and older people, all with additional needs. Feedback from participants, carers, parents, teachers and funders has clearly demonstrated that the vast majority of participants have improved their confidence & communication skills enabling them to become more productive and useful members of society. Some have progressed to present their own radio shows, and some used the training as a starting point for a career in the media. Such is the success of these sessions that the charity has once again won, or been nominated for, several national and local awards. |

| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The largest expense for the charity is for training. This expense is only incurred if sufficient funds are received to enable these charitable activities to take place. In general, the funders either pay up front or on invoice and ask for evidence that the sessions took place. Outside of that, fixed costs are very low and the charity holds reserves for these expenses to ensure that the charity can continue to operate for a full 12 months even if funding was to fall. Reserves at 30 September 2024 exceeded the amount required. This was due to timing differences in carrying out the activities required by our funding with respect to when the funds are paid in. |
