In planning our activities for the year at our trustee meetings, we kept in mind the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The charity welcomes all people without distinction of age. sex. sexual orientation. race or of political. religious or other opinions. Following re￿Ipt of planning permission. the charity spent £14,538 {materials only) on a project to erect a pitch barrier around it's main pitch and also along one side of its second full size pitch. The barrier around the main pitch was required to make sure the pitch complies wilh the rules of the Essex Olympian Football League (Saturday senior team football). The project was supported by a £10,000 grant from the Rural England Prosperity Fund. In addition, a further £7.710 was received by way of grant from the Football Foundation to install safety I boundary fencing at a cost of £10,280 to separate pitches from the ¢ar ark area. Achievements and Performance Summary of the main achievements of Ihe Gharity, identifying the dIffe￿nCe the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as whole. The charity added three more teams taking team numbers lo 44 as new Under 7 and Under 8 teams continued to emerge from the Saturday Moming SOc￿r S¢hool (boys) and Wildcats {girls). On the pitch, in addition to more regular maintenance, Ihe charity spent £7.916 on top dressing its main pitches with 175 tonnes of sand to improve drainage. The second-hand football boot and clothing store raised a net £2.200 during the period while the two °Funday Weekend" 5 a- side football tournaments were a great Suc￿sS and collectively raised circa £31,000. The Charty was On￿ again honoured to receive 18 x £300 Achievement Awards and 2 x £1000 Leader Awards from the Jack Petchey Foundation. Award monies were used for the wider benefit of the young players at the club. The team building awards were allocated against the cost of a team building aclivity day at the Skreen's Park Activity Centre in Essex. Once again, a couple teams of youngsters visited Broomfield from the SV Sparta Werlle football club in Germany to participate in the long running footballing exchange programme. The teams and their Broomfield hosts visited The London Stadium and Duxford Air Museum as well participating in football matches and other activities. The clubhouse was used on a weekly basis by local community groups and for various family celebrations such that third party rivale hire raised £11,261. Financial Review Review of the Charity s financial position at the end of the period It should be noted that the period in question is a 14 month period following a change of year end from 3151 May to 31. July primarily so thal toumament income and expenses can both be recognised dunng the same accounting period. The charity finished the year in a strong financial position with cash at bank I cash of £19.005 despite continuing to invest in pitch maintenance and facilities as described above. There were no si nificant liabilities at ear end. We consider that cash reserves should be maintained at a minimum of £4k of unrestricted cash all times. This is considered a prudenl level to cover day to day expenses for several months.
