Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit)
We aim to advance the Islamic faith in Great Harwood for the public
benefit, mainly but not exclusively by means of providing a place of
worship, religious education and pastoral care in the community.
Over the year we have had to adapt the way we operate due to the
COVID-19 pandemic. When required we migrated from the classrooms to
online zoom classes in order to safely educate the public and have
managed to meet our targets regardless of the difficulties by the
restrictions imposed by the Government.
Arranging funerals for the public regardless of their religious beliefs. MMI
has carried out funeral arrangements for the Muslims and wider
community including non-Muslims. This involves working with the
coroner, registrar, cemeteries and direct families in order to provide a
free funeral service to them.
We arranged Nikah (wedding) ceremonies with the numbers attending
capped in accordance to the government guidelines.
MMI set up a food bank in Great Harwood in order to help overcome the
food shortage they may face in the first few months of the outbreak. With
a group of volunteers we managed to help hundreds of people by
delivering thousands of food packs to their doors. We also topped up the
Clayton Baptist Church, with any extra food items they needed. This has
helped the welfare of my community and surrounding communities
including and inspired friends, family and volunteers to contribute and
take part in helping others in need.
MMI set up a covid support group which helped train, educate and
support our local community on the latest updates and new norms
throughout the pandemic.
We declare that the trustees have worked in accordance to the guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Section D

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Achievements and performance

Our academic results showed improvements with our examination results having a 100% pass rate.

We have set up a free funeral service within MMI for all the community to use regardless of their beliefs.

We arranged free Nikah (wedding) ceremonies, when wedding halls were no longer available for use due to the pandemic, all done with the people attending made aware of the COVID-19 measure in place and the numbers attending capped in accordance to the government guidelines.

Following Guidelines by the Government we have implemented disease spread preventions methods to ensure the safety of our community and congregation. This has resulted in zero infections being traced back to the charity.

We managed to educate the community on the risks of the COVID-19 epidemic on the BAME community and educated them to take measures including social distancing and taking the vaccine... etc. This resulted in zero COVID-19 deaths to our direct community/congregation.

We managed to help hundreds of people by delivering thousands of food packs to their doors. We helped top up the Clayton Baptist Church, with any extra food items they needed improving community relations with other faith organisations.

We distributed 200 iftari packs during Ramadhan and raised awareness on hunger.

We have motivated the community to come together during this very difficult time, helping others regardless of their beliefs.
