GREATER MANCHESTER FIRE SERVICE MUSEUM TRUST
ANNUAL REPORT 2022-2023
Fireground has now been open for 20 months, meaning this is the first Trustees report covering a full twelve-month period.
The new museum has continued to operate successfully during this period, with consistently good reviews from both general visitors and the schools sector.
Volunteer enthusiasm and morale remains high and much of the museum success can be attributed to the dedication and versatility of this team.
Relations with our two key partners – Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and Rochdale Borough Council – remain strong, with representatives from both organisations continuing to serve on the Trust.
Two Trustees meetings were held during the year under review with a full Annual General Meeting in April 2022, at which three Trustees were re-elected in accordance with the Constitution. The governing body remains at full strength at this time.
The Fireground project has now entered its third and final year of NLHF Delivery Phase, which will end in August 2023, and Trustees have been fully occupied in endeavouring to complete all necessary tasks within the allotted timescales.
Trust finances remain healthy at the present time.

Basis of independent examiner’s report My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes
-
a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the
-
accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair
-
view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. A
-
Independent examiner’s statement Having completed my examination, I confirm that no matter has come
-
to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in an material respect:
i
- accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the 2011 Act; or
- the accounts do not accord with those records; or
- the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
