’ - 2021 2022 CHAIRMAN S REPORT
Submitted by Trevor Howson
I would like to thank everybody for attending this year’s Annual General Meeting.
We were delighted to end 2021/2022 financial year in a very good position financially having overcome many hurdles over the past months, with our Accountant declaring that we were on par with pre-Covid figures at our Annual General Meeting on 7th June 2022.
This is due to the hard work and dedication to our whole organisation, groups, members, staff and officers alike, well done everyone your hard work is very much appreciated.
I would like to welcome our new members into our Centre and thank members standing down, for their help in the past.
I am going to ask David, our Office Coordinator, to write to groups using the Centre, enquiring if anyone would like to come forward and join us as a member of our committee. Anyone living in the PO12 or PO13 postal districts would be made most welcome and their contribution to our meetings will be invaluable because we are unable to function without such members with new ideas and a willingness to help our charity for the sake of the residents is of the greatest importance.
Meetings only take up about 2 hours per month but the social benefits far outweigh the requirement of the committee meeting
We will be having a finance meeting to discuss the spiralling costs in the near future..
There is just one major hurdle left to overcome and that relates to our only Bank Account registered with the unincorporated charity who will not recognise us as the new incorporated charity for HEDCA. Over the last 2 years we have travelled down many paths trying to find a solution to the problems left when changing from the old unincorporated charity to our new incorporated charity, the bank being the only unresolved problem remaining, but by far the hardest to overcome, however we think that the residents that we represent, together with the Pre-School, the many groups who use our centre and volunteers who serve are well worth the efforts being made to continue with this quest.
That concludes my report so thank you once again for coming and for your help and support.
