the charity as set out in its
governing document

a supplementary school, the weekend activities

Para 1.17 and

The structure of the school-year remained 2
semesters with 9 meetings in each semester.
Because of the outbreak of the Covid-19
pandemic, we were not able to continue our
activities after the 14th of March 2020 in face to
face. Then we used Zoom to meet and teach the
children. We provided local families a regular
opportunity to meet and practice the Hungarian
language, contributing to their general well-being
as a member of a community with similar
interests in their cultural heritage and folklore
traditions We organised 4 outdoor activities, day
trips and tradition St Nicholas day.

Charity present their annual report and audited
accounts for the year ended July 2021 and

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The charity achieved its aims through delivering
regular education of Hungarian language, folk
songs, dance, literature, history, traditional art
and craft to children aged 0-18 years as well as
to adults.
The 2019-2020` academic year did not work out
as planned as we could not have any face to face
activity from March 2020. In view of events during
the COVID19 crisis, we proposed that
memberships paid for the second half of this year
will carry forward to the next academic year, in
order to compensate those members who
already paid their membership when we had to
switch to online sessions.
Members with financial or other disadvantages
can participate in activities free or at reduced
price to ensure events are open to all. The charity
also provides support and advice for people in
need and aids personal development and
employability through volunteering opportunities
and coaching.
The functional year had been a busy one for the
Hungarian School Woking, with about 140
participants taking part in our regular activities.
Unfortunately, in the second term we had to close
our doors, due to the pandemic and were not
able to gather for any regular classes in the latter
part of 2020 summer term. On the other hand, we
were able to organise successful online sessions
to carry out our regular activities as well as
organised day trips, open events for children and
their families.
