1 Welcome

staff for their continued support.
There we no matters arising from last year’s minutes.
2 Chair Report
Chairperson’s Report for the Friends of St Mark’s CE Primary School AGM 12th September 2023
The following report has been prepared for the 12th September 2023 for the Annual General
Meeting. The report outlines the work undertaken by the Friends in the last year.
Changes to the Committee: - We have welcomed Lee, Hannah and Nina to the Committee.
School Year 2022/23
The Friends of St Mark’s have continued to support the school financially in the last year seeing an
increase in profits raised in some events. It is great to see the vast improvement in the school
grounds and the addition of the equipment, farm and forest school all of which we have been able
to support with fundraising from our events.

Fund raising events we ran in the school year 2022/2023:

Unfortunately Amazon have now withdrawn their Amazon Smile scheme thefore we will no longer receive donations via this route.

We have changed how the school discos are run (online booking, pickup/drop off system) which has seen an improvement in queues and efficiency. We have secured a new DJ at a cheaper rate which will see an increase in profits.

The Christmas Fayre was a success with just some minor changes on layout to think about this year.

The 5k walk and Summer Fun days were also great successes with lots of positive feedback from staff and parents.

I would like to thank Cheryl for managing the nearly new uniform sales, we have seen an increase in interest and we will continue to push sales and request unform donations.

We will continue to look at other new opportunities to help support the school financially including a sponsored event, break the rules day and a ticketed event e.g. magician, as an example.

We have again provided the year R’s water bottles for the new intake of children and funded the Year 6 transport for their residential trip.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported us in a volunteer capacity this year, they have been a huge support and without them our events cannot take place. 3 Treasurer’s Report – Opening Balance - £19,080.52 Current Balance - £27,777.85 Committed Spend - £23,157.06 Available Balance £4,620.79 All documents are attached.

The accounts are now ready to submit and will be audited by Helen Edmonds in due course.

4 Charles Applegate extended his thanks to the Committee for the hours and efforts put in for
fundraising for the school. The difference on the outside area has contributed to the appeal of the
school for new parents and in turn has seen a bigger intake than predicted this year. The new
equipment, farm and outdoor space has made an impact on all the children. The outdoor project
has almost come to an end however, there are improvements needed to the globe and
amphitheatre which future fundraising could help with.
5 Aidan Kinnell (Chair of Governors) also thanked the Committee on behalf of the school Governors.
Aidan will be undertaking a 100k walk in May 2024, his chosen charity is Friends of St Mark’s. We
agreed to help promote his fundraising page in the new year and leading up to the event.
