From 01.04.22 Period start dateTo 31.03.23 Period end date

Charity name: Redeemer Grimsby

Charity registration number: 1188631

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The purpose of Redeemer Grimsby is to
exalt the name of Jesus Christ through
gospel-centred, discipleship,
community & mission. We are an elder-
led church seeking to advance the
Christian faith through regular times of
public worship, prayer & bible study. We
have a service at 11.30a.m. every
Sunday morning held in the YMCA
building at 21 Freeman St., Grimsby. We
have sought to give & encourage
pastoral care & have constantly
reviewed our programme as our duty to
‘love one another’. We have supported
charitable social action in the local
community as several of our members
continue to work in the food kitchen. We
give monthly donations to 5 charities;-
The Bible Society,
Compassion ( supporting a 6 year old
boy in Ghana ), Open Door ( supporting
the persecuted Church ), Hope for
Justice
( anti-slavery & human trafficking ) and,
beginning in April 2022 Christians in
Ukraine ).
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
We have continued to meet in the cafe at
the YMCA in Grimsby every Sunday
morning for a church service. We also
meet there every Tuesday evening for
bible study and Thursday evening for
prayer. Due to a fall in membership to
just 7 in August 2022 we began a period
of fasting on the last Thursday of the
month and a bring and share meal on
the following Sunday after the service.
Since then we began to see a definite
growth in attendance so that by the end
of March 23 our membership had more
than doubled from the previous year. In
December we donated a Christmas
hamper to all 74 residents of the hostel
as well as several staff members. We
also held a Christmas service in the
local Freeman St. Market which was well
attended and created some welcome
publicity. Subsequently we continued to
hold a service and be a presence in the
market every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. ( the Tuesday bible studies were
discontinued. In the time covered by
this report we held 3 Elder/ Trustee
meetings and 2 members meetings.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
