Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From 10/03/2020 Period start date to 31/03/2021 Period end date

Charity name: ADP AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Charity registration number: 1188460

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The relief of sickness and the Preservation
of Health among African communities living
in Leicester and Leicestershire. But not
exclusively. By Raising Awareness on HIV
Prevention, Awareness on Sexual Health
and Social Exclusion by providing access to
a free sexual Health Clinic for the African
community based in Leicester City. Outreach
to the African Community in Leicester,
African Business with the Health support
Material Campaign for HIV Prevention
Awareness.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The Lifesaving medicines in this area have
yet to reach the large BAME Community
(PrEP for Example). This means the HIV
pandemic is not yet ready to go away. The
Public still need organisation like us drive by
BAME member to carry on raising
Awareness to bring undiagnosed people
forward for Testing.
Unfortunately, the Year March 2020 to 31
March 2021 was dominated by a Lockdown
of the Country. Leicester city has been
locked down since March 2020 just after we
have been registered as a Charity under
charity number 1188460.
The risk of contracting Covid- 19 has kept
many of the community home due to fear. It
was hard to organise Event or Our Outreach
to the community for Sexual Health and HIV
Awareness Prevention. The Leicester
Sexual Health Clinic also was Closed at that
time. But we have sought to develop an
Online offer as a response to our Outreach
campaign on HIV Prevention Awareness to
reach the community with the C- Card
scheme (Condom’s delivery) in partnership
with The Leicestershire sexual Health Clinic
LSH. We were getting a Phone call as part
of our activity for condom delivery for those
in need. This can be justified through LSH
Leicestershire Sexual Health Clinic who is
providing us with the C- Card scheme set by
NHS. The 2020 – 2021 year was the very
hardest year for the charity sector especially
with the implementation of the quarantine,
social distancing and community
containment measure by the government.
This has had an impact dramatically on our
activities for the last 2 years. But our
Gratitude to the Big Lottery funding Award
for ALL teams for their support in the late
funding of the year on 27 th March 2021
which really motivated the ADP Team and
gave us a lot of confidence to carry on doing
what we were supposed to do.
That Funding Help us today to have an
Office at B- Box Business, 3 Oswin Road,
Leicester LE3 1HR.
We have got a website adpleicesterservices
co.uk in construction still but the major part
has been done. We have a Twitter account
and Facebook promoting HIV Prevention
awareness and Sexual health. All those
platforms will be in detail in our second
Annual return report because we received
the Funding very late, and we went through
some safeguarding review investigation with
the bank HSBC up to July 2021 before it
became operational and allows us for use.
A such small activity help to keep the
community Sexually safe because sexual
infections can reach any door at any time.
Now there is a lift on covid- 19 restrictions,
People will get sexually active again and it
will be a risk of transmission. There is a
need of expanding the community testing
capacity in HIV/ AIDS
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 Yes, our trustees have had regard to the
guidance issued by the Charity commission
on public benefit.

Other Our Gratitude to the Big Lottery Funding
Award for All for their support to our
activities. Also, gratitude to the Volunteers
who came forward to support us whenever
we have an activity. Our gratitude as well to
the board members who spent time after
time supporting the organisation.
Without their valuable contribution, ADP
work would not be possible.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 In the last month of the Year March 2021,
we managed to secure a Funding from Big
Lottery Funding Award for All.
In May 2021, we secured the Office work for
ADP African Development Project today as a
main address at 3 Oswin Road, LE3 1HR
and Office equipment.
We have partnership contract with LSH
Leicestershire Sexual Health Clinic for C-
Card Scheme and Condoms distribution to
the large African Community in Leicester.
We have distributed more C- cards in the
Leicester African Community more than
anybody else.
We partnership with Trade sexual Health
organisation to assist with the testing
Awareness campaign through the African
Community break stigma on LGBT by mixing
up together.
Over the year even in Lock down, we
managed to deliver 220 Male Condoms and
18 females Condoms.
Now we have link with venues such as
African Barbershops and Bar/ Restaurant to
promote the Sexual Health and HIV
Prevention Awareness.
We believe this year will give us more
opportunity to promote Sexual health and
HIV/ AIDS Prevention awareness if do not
get in to Lockdown again.
