| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | The object of the CIO is the advancement of education for the public benefit in: • the social and industrial history and heritage of the West Midlands; • issues affecting young people (including but not limited to eating disorders/alcohol and drug consumption/bullying/antisocial behaviour/social media); and • intergenerational perceptions of young people, through the facilitation and public exhibition of community led media engagement projects. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
This year has been a difficult year following the Covid 19 Pandemic. Our efforts have focused on negotiating a lease agreement with a landlord to provide a base for the charity encompassing a performance space, rehersal rooms and community gallery facilities. We have secured the premises as of April 2023. The address being Jelleyman's Arts Centre, Townshend Works, Puxton Lane Kidderminster. The lease grants us the land and buildings for an initial period of 4.5 years in return for a peppercorn rent. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have |
Para 1.18 | The Covid 19 Pandemic has retarded our plans by approximately 24 months. |
| had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
The negotiation for a permanent home for the charity and commitments required by the landlord have delayed our strategic goals for the 12 months prior to compiling this report. However throughout this time we have forged relationships of a meaningful nature with many local arts organisations and groups dedicated to working within our dedicated sector. Throughout this time the landlord has been kind enough to allow our organisation access to some areas of the facility allowing our partner organisations to understand the potential of the site and the aims of the charity. |
