the charity as set out in its Achimota School Ghana by providing and
governing document assisting in the provision of facilities for
education at the school.

In 2017 Achimota School turned 90 years.
The OAA Executive Committee embarked
on a useful legacy project to benefit the
school. The Headmistress was asked about

was needed from the OAA. To which she
responded that a new Science Block with
modern facilities and equipment was
required in view of the large number of
science students.
The OAA applied for and won funding of
$310,000 for the project, from the Tullow Oil
Ghana Limited initiative that supports
second-cycle institutions with STEM
infrastructure. However, the project was
budgeted to cost over $450,000 and
therefore additional fundraising was
necessary.

Para 1.20 During this reporting period, the OAA UK
Trust in line with its objectives provided
some financial contribution towards the
construction of a new Science block. This
facility will aid STEM development and help
accommodate the increased intake of
students.
These students will hopefully progress into
higher education in these disciplines and
subsequently into professions and the
workforce to contribute to the development
and advancement of the nation of Ghana.
As an organisation, the majority of our
funding is received from the Annual OAA UK
Fundraising Dinner Dance events.
However, restrictions and conditions
imposed by the global pandemic impacted
our fundraising activities. This is evident in
the accompanying Accounts.

financial position is still satisfactory even
though no income was realised. The OAA
UK Trust has no major overheads, the
organisation is fully ran and supported by
volunteers.

running of the organisation.
The reserves enable the organisation to
undertake prefunding activities such as
paying deposits for the catering and venues
used to host our fundraising and alumni
