Summary of the purposes of Para 1.17 To advance the education of the pupils at
the charity as set out in its Achimota School Ghana by providing and
governing document assisting in the provision of facilities for
education at the school.

activities, projects or services of the new Science Block. This was in

cover a shortfall of much needed funds to
fully complete the project.
In 2017 Achimota School turned 90 years.
The OAA Executive Committee embarked
on a useful legacy project to benefit the
school. The Headmistress was asked about
the most pressing need for which assistance
was needed from the OAA. To which she
responded that a new Science Block with
modern facilities and equipment was
required in view of the large number of
science students.
The OAA applied for and won funding of
$310,000 for the project, from the Tullow Oil
Ghana Limited initiative that supports
second-cycle institutions with STEM
infrastructure. However, the project was
budgeted to cost over $450,000 and
therefore additional fundraising was
necessary.
