Objectives and activities
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | We aim to provide the means for the people of Kibblesworth and surrounding areas to participate in healthy recreation in order to support mental and physical wellbeing. The facilities are valuable local amenities given that Kibblesworth is not well served with public transport services. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
We maintain the bowling green to a high standard and it is free to use by all members of the local community. We provide the equipment needed to play bowls. Fun days and bowling tournaments are organised, these events are open to all although there is an entry fee for tournaments. We also host dedicated sessions for those with complex learning difficulties. The bowling green is home to Kibblesworth Bowling Club, fees paid by members of the club make up the majority of the annual running costs. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
Para 1.18 | Trustees provided with copies of the guidance notes. Regular trustee meetings take place to discuss issues/concerns that arise. |

Achievements and performance
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The bowling green was once again open for the entire bowling season and maintained to the high standard we have come to expect due to the commitment and dedication of our volunteers. We once again had the privilege of hosting visitors from Unity (formerly Phoenix), a support organisation for those with complex learning difficulties |
|---|---|---|
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
| Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Carpet bowls kits have been purchased and these have been made available for use in the local community when the bowling green is not available (either closed season or inclement weather). |
|---|---|---|
| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | We made further safety and accessibility improvements to the bowling green in early 2025, funded by grants and donations awarded in the previous financial year. These changes also reduced the amount of regular maintenance needed. The concerted effort we made to find donors in 2024 was |
very successful but meant that funding sources for 2025 were difficult to find. One volunteer attained certification as a coach and has been using these new skills throughout the local area. Para 1.41 Investment performance against objectives Other

| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | Money held so that we have the ability to respond to any issues that could lead to the playing surfaces becoming unplayable. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | £1000 |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | |

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
| The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 | This year has saw a drop in income compared to the previous year; this is not unexpected since the local community had been very generous in the previous financial year. |
|---|---|---|
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | None |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | We have wide local support for the work we do and the service that we provide. As we grow, we will require additional storage space for the equipment. A major disadvantage of the facility is a lack of shelter; as the number of people using the green increases, we do not want to see them being discouraged by having nowhere to take shelter when there is a passing shower of rain, for example. |
