Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
We maintain the bowling green to a high standard and it is free to use by all members of the local community. We provide the equipment needed to play bowls. Fun days and bowling tournaments are organised, these events are open to all although there is an entry fee for tournaments. We also host dedicated sessions for those with complex learning difficulties. The bowling green is home to Kibblesworth Bowling Club, fees paid by members of the club make up the majority of the annual running costs. |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The green was open for the entire bowling season, April-October, entirely due to the commitment made by our members. We hosted several open days which were well attended by the local community, in addition to our annual open pairs tournament that continues to attract top players from the region. The availability of the green has been important to local people since it offers a place where they can meet social, even for non-bowlers who drop in to watch games and enjoy the banter. In 2023 we hosted members of the Phoenix project, a support organisation for those with complex learning difficulties. For many of our volunteers, this has been the highlight of the season. A weeklong bowling extravaganza was held in May. |

| Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Although membership increased this was only by one. The bowling green was open all season and maintained to a high standard, despite mechanical breakdowns to the grasscutter. We installed a wheelchair ramp providing access to the green. We saw an increase in the number of children using the bowling green and would like to build upon this in the next year. |
|---|---|---|
| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | We raised sufficient funds to continue to meet our primary aim of maintaining the green and its surrounds. Additional junior bowls were purchased to support the bowling extravaganza in May, and we were pleased to see that these |
| were required by juniors returning to play during the open season. |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | We are generating sufficient funds in order to continue to maintain the facilities at their current high standard. Due to the mechanical problems we had with the grasscutter, we’ll be seeking approval from the membership to purchase a second hand grasscutter. We have requested a grant from SUEZ communities fund which we hope will allow us to make improvements to the access ramp leading to the green from the main gate. We have £2209 funds designated to support this grant if it is awarded. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | Money held so that we have the ability to respond to any issues that could lead to the playing surfaces becoming unplayable. |

| The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 | Funds in this period fall in to 4 main categories: VCSE grant award, Sponsorship of an Open competition, Membership fees and general fundraising items such as selling Domino cards and raffle tickets. Members were generous in their provision of items to include in the raffle. |
|---|---|---|
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | None |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | Reliability of the grasscutter; ongoing repair costs and the lack of maintenance when the cutter is out of action are not sustainable. We’re therefore looking to buy a replacement cutter to reduce impact of this. Longer term, failing to improve the playing quality will limit our ability to attract paying members to the club. By improving the quality of the playing surface, we can attract more members thus enabling us to become less reliant on grants due to the |
expected increase in funds from membership fees. As our engagement with local medical and disability groups extends the number of visitors to the green, the uneven surface of the access ramp and surrounding path presents an increasing risk to the safety of the people we are trying to help. To mitigate this we are hoping to raise funds, specifically from a grant made to SUEZ communities fund, to improve the access. Other
