season, April-October, entirely due to the
commitment made by our members.
We hosted several open days which were
well attended by the local community, in
addition to our annual open pairs
tournament that continues to attract top
players from the region.
The availability of the green has been
important to local people since it offers a
place where they can meet social, even for
non-bowlers who drop in to watch games
and enjoy the banter.
In 2023 we hosted members of the Phoenix
project, a support organisation for those
with complex learning difficulties. For many
of our volunteers, this has been the
highlight of the season.
A weeklong bowling extravaganza was

us to make improvements to the access
ramp leading to the green from the main
gate. We have £2209 funds designated to

Longer term, failing to improve the playing
quality will limit our ability to attract paying
members to the club. By improving the
quality of the playing surface, we can
attract more members thus enabling us to
become less reliant on grants due to the| expected increase in funds from membership fees. As our engagement with local medical and disability groups extends the number of visitors to the green, the uneven surface of the access ramp and surrounding path presents an increasing risk to the safety of the people we are trying to help. To mitigate this we are hoping to raise funds, specifically from a grant made to SUEZ communities fund, to improve the access.
