Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

October 2020 To September 2021

Charity name: KIBBLESWORTH & LAMESLEY COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB

Charity registration number: 1188186

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 We aim to provide the means for the
people of Kibblesworth and surrounding
areas to participate in healthy recreation in
order to support mental and physical
wellbeing. The facilities are valuable local
amenities given that Kibblesworth is not
well served with public transport services.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
We provide the means for all members of
the community to meet in a friendly
environment and to play bowls and cricket
in a competitive or purely social setting.
In addition to making the bowls/cricket
amenities accessible to all the people of
Kibblesworth and surrounding areas, this
year we were provided with funds to help
purchase junior bowling equipment in order
to better support the needs of the local
youth community. Volunteers were on hand
during the summer holidays to support this
initiative.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 Trustees provided with copies of the
guidance notes. Regular trustee meetings
take place to discuss issues/concerns that
arise.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Last year our main achievement was to
preserve local facilities (bowling green and
cricket pitch) for use by the local
community, which would otherwise have
been lost. This work has continued, with
the amenities still in good order and
available to all.
Building on last year’s success, we have
been able to purchase games which make
the bowling green more interesting to
younger children. These were purchased
toward the end of July and volunteers
made themselves available during the
summer holidays.

where relevant about:
Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 Our main objective has been to preserve
the bowling facilities for use by local
inhabitants of Kibblesworth and
surrounding areas - this has been met.
We have also met our secondary objective
which was to raise awareness of the
amenities and to provide more interest to
younger groups. This has been met.
Although new members were welcomed to
the club, this was neutralised by existing
members taking a break for various family
commitments. We look forward to their
return next season.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 We have raised enough funds to support a
steady state.
However, we have a plan to improve the
overall experience for younger and older
generations using the bowling green (bowls
is one of the few sports where all
generations of a family can play at no
disadvantage to either older or younger
players). In order to effect this plan, a
significant increase in funds raised is
needed.

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 Funds in this period fall in to 4 main
categories: Local Authority grants,
Sponsorship of an Open competition,
Membership fees and general fundraising
items such as selling Domino cards and
raffle tickets.
Members were generous in their provision
of items to include in the raffle.
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 None
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 Issues affecting the quality of the playing
surfaces. To mitigate this, volunteers have
undergone basic courses on greenkeeping
and we have a professional greenkeeper in
the local community offer free advice.
Longer term, failing to improve the playing
quality will limit our ability to attract paying
members to the club. By improving the
quality of the playing surface, we can
attract more members thus enabling us to
become less reliant on grants due to the
expected increase in funds from
membership fees.
