Weston Mendip Football Club Registered Charity number: 1187968 Trustee Annual Report 2020/21

Registered address: St John’s Recreation Ground, Coleridge Road, WestonSuper-Mare, BS23 3UP

Trustees: Caroline Bazell, Jeremy Brown, Steve Horler.

This is the first trustee annual report since registering as a charity 14[th] February 2020. This annual report runs to 31[st] May 2021. We are set up as a Charitable Incorporated Institution (CIO). It is managed by trustees, made up of the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, alongside the committee. The trustees and committee members can be voted on at the annual AGM or at an EGM. We recruit new members from the parents, carers, players, and volunteers at the club. We have a constitution as our governing document.

Our charitable object is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular the provision of facilities for girls and ladies football in North Somerset.

Activities, objectives, achievements and public benefit in the 2020/21 season:

We have continued to use our pitches and compound at St John’s recreation ground. This is currently through a short-term lease with North Somerset Council (NSC). A longer-term lease is currently being drawn up by NSC. We secured a ground preparation grant from the Football Foundation in July 2020, which allowed us to continue to make improvements to the pitch. We currently have over 150 girls and ladies playing football.

Aims for the future:

We are working with a sports funding consultancy to identify grants available to us and help us apply for these. Our 5-year plan is to build a clubhouse. However, we want to prioritise a toilet block as we are an allfemale club and there is a need for sanitary facilities. We are at least two or three years away from a proper building, so we need temporary toilets to keep us going until that happens.

Financial review:

We have no debts. We do not own any land or assets. Our funds are for the most part raised through subscriptions and grants. During the time period we had an income of £66,772 and outgoings of £68, 919. The bank account has a healthy balance and we look financially secure for the next season.
