Section D Achievements and performance Summary ot the main achievements of the charity during the year Overview ol provision Little Chicks Nursery Plus welcomes boys and girls and is registered by CIW to care for 20 children up lo the age 0112 years. Children aged 3-4 years can attend out setting. We meet children's needs as individuals and within groups as a provider of sessional care Our latest inspection rewrt by CIW can be seen on.. hit s'.Ilwww.careins eclorale.walesl Little Chicks Nursery Plus is covered by public liability and employer's liability insurance. Certificates are displayed in the setting. Operational hours-. We are open Monday - Friday each week 11.20am - 2.50pm during term time only. We are closed on training days. See our admissions policy for details about how we manage applications lo our service. Staff are recruited. employed within and work lo or exceed. regulatory requirements al all limes. Currently there are 2 members ol stall employed and work in the setting every day. We ensure that we maintain the 1..8 ratio. Little Chicks Nursery Plus welcomes students on placement, volunteers and visitors who enrich the experiences ol children. All would be DBS checked, there are policies and procedures in place lo ensure that childien's safely and wellbeing are paramount. Facilities available- Little Chicks Nursery Plus opèratès in a welcoming and well-equipped classroom within the Early Years Department ol Gwersylll CP School. This location allows us lo create an engaging and secure environment. Our setting benefits fiom access lo a shared kitchen area. which is used to prepare an afternoon snack, ensuring hygienic practices and loslering healthy eating habits. Adjacent lo the classroom are the children's loilels, which are conveniently accessible. Children are encouraged lo use these facilities independently lo build self-confidence, with support readily available when needed. Services offered- Children are able lo order a school dinner or bring in their own lunch. We provide a snack, line with our food, drinks and healthy eating policy. Water is always available lor children lo drink. Children's individual needs and preferences are noted and recorded as they register lo join the provision. Aclivilies offered are from a wide range that are planned lo suit children's age, stage and individual needs and meet our aims and objectives and reflect Welsh Government current strategy. Our routine allows lor spontaneous in the moment activities. as well as adapting lo unplanned influences such as weather, local or global events. The language used= Little Chicks Nursery Plus is a predominantly English medium setting with some use ol Welsh. Little Chicks works with the support ol Eady Years Wales lo invest in our staff's commitment to their continuous provisional developmenl through reliably endorsed courses, events and training pathways, and parentslcarers are kept informed ol these. Section D Achievements and performance Little Chicks has produced a pack ol policies and procedures that describe arrangements for dealing with routine operational practice, complaints. concerns and any emergency that may occur during operational hours. They are designed lo ensure effective and sale management of our service and lo offer the best FX)ssible environment and experience for the children and families who use it. The policies and procedures are developed and maintained in line with andlor exceed national minimum standards and regulations. They are reviewed regularly lat least annuallyl and updated land CIW informed ol any changes) as necessary. The policy pack is available lor all who visit, work in or use Little Chicks to see them. The pack is available from the setting. Communlcatlng wlth our parentslcarèrs Little Chicks maintains a website with up-lo-dale information. The Facebook page continues to be used by staff lo share the upcoming topics lo be covered. photos ol the activities being undertaken and also links to other siles that support other learning activities lor parenlslcarèrs to try at home. We also continue lo promote Little Chicks and the upcoming topics via the school e-newsletter that is distributed by email every Friday during the school term, and through the Gwersylli C.P. School blog and Notice Board on the school Yard. We have also now begun lo use the school website to include our policies and introduced Seesaw as a more regular form of Communication with parents in line with the school nursery who use Seesaw lo communicate. We have now gol our own mobile phone which has been essential lor communicating with parents directly and being able lo make phone calls lo families about first aid and other needs lo communicate. Overvlew of the Year In the Summer of 2024. il was confirmed by the school that Little Chicks would still be able to use the Early Years unil space each allernoon, bul the area would not be used by the nursery class in the morning. This has impacted us as we have previously l)een sharing the classroom resources bul no longer had this available lo us. We spent some lime collecting and gathering new resources lo support the calming environment and to reflect the nursery classroom lo support and easier transition for pupils. Al Christmas 2024 Mrs Wendy Howe resigned from her role al Little Chicks and we welcomed Miss Claire Harrison lo join us. Claire has been working hard within the last year lo write many policies and develop the environment lo a child led learning space. Claire has been on Play work training and implemented this into the planning ol resources and aclivitl8S for the children. The children have enjoyed many children led activities throughout the year and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences that we offered. We have had some sessions with Diddy Dance and these were enjoyed by all. Our Open Afternoon combined with Early Years for the new September cohort was very successful this year with twice as many parents attending from the previous year and 17 families iegislered an interest lor Little Chicks. Section D Achievements and performance As well as renewing current qualifications, both lull time members ol stall have undergone First Aid training, and Food Hygiene courses. Playworker courses and Safeguarding. Financially this year, Little Chicks has gradually returned lo be in a much healthier position despite the lower numbers ol children. We are slowly building our reserves back up whilst also ensuring the children don't miss out on experiences and resources. We have begun lo replace all our resources with natural materials and sustainable materials, and the learning space is looking really special. Fulure Plans Little Chicks has thrived again this year with strong attendance figures every term. We have plans now to apply for a Small Childcare Capital Grant lo support us in developing the space and resources that the children will have access to. TAR March 2012
