charity set out in its governing
document
Summary of the main activities
undertaken for the public
benefit in relation to these
objects (include within this
section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit)
The purpose (‘objects’) of the association is to advance the education of
all pupils in the school in particular by:
a)
Raising funds for school enrichment activities, ensuring an equal
experience for all children, including those who are disadvantaged.
b)
Celebrating and promoting our diverse school community to
create a friendly, inclusive environment
c)
Providing extra opportunities to have fun at school
d)
Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and
others associated with the school
Belmont Families exists to support both Belmont Infant School and
Belmont Junior School equally.
Fundraising
A total of£38,384was raised through events and donations during this
financial year. The events included a quiz, a cake and craft sale, wreath
making workshops, a disco, an easter egg design competition, wacky
hair day, a food festival and car boot sale, a valentines promise auction,
a football tournament, treat Friday sales, and the Summer Fair. Our
funds were also boosted through the easyfundraising.com scheme, one
off donations from parents and a corporate work fundraising scheme.
Parents have the option to ‘sponsor’ a ticket at the disco and football
tournaments enabling us to provide free tickets to those families who
cannot afford it. We ensure ticket, games and refreshment prices at all
our events are fair and not over inflated to ensure they are accessible to
the majority.
Celebrating and promoting diversity
When planning our events, we have tried to make sure that they are
inclusive and appealing to a wide range of children and parents. PAt
events with children in attendance, we do not serve alcohol (so as to not
exclude some families). We ensure there are vegetarian, vegan and
Halal options available when catering for events. Our Summer Fair
poster was designed to celebrate the diversity of backgrounds our
children come from. Our International food festival enabled parents and
the local community to showcase food from their cultures. Our football
tournament included a particular focus on girls this year, with a girls only
match, as well as mixed gender teams.
Opportunities to have fun at school
Events such as the disco, wacky hair day and the football tournament are
increasing in popularity year after year as they give the children a chance
to take part in something during the school week that is primarily focussed
on the children to have fun. The money raised enables the school to fund
fun and educational enrichment activities such as artist visits, pantomimes
and residential school trips. All of these things lead to enjoyment at school
and increase a sense of belonging.
Developing effective relationships
Belmont Families have set up WhatsApp groups for each class and each
has a dedicated class rep. This helps to promote events and also builds
a sense of community. There are 440 members of the parent community

in the groups. We have a member of the Senior Leadership Team on the Belmont Families Committee which helps strengthen our already good relationship with school staff. Many staff members attended the social quiz and supported us at various events throughout the year. We are particularly grateful to the school office and site staff who have helped us this year.

Statutory declaration

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Association’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities. All trustees give of their time freely and no benefit including remuneration or expenses were paid in the year.

Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)

You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about:

We are grateful for the many hours volunteers spent organising events and helping with the running of the charity. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not have been able to achieve so much. We are thrilled to be able to give much needed funds to Belmont Infant and Junior School at a time of challenging school budgets. We feel we make a significant impact into advancing the education of the pupils as a result.
