THE PREVENTION OR RELIEF OF POVERTY IN KIRKLEES AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS BY PROVIDING: ITEMS TO FAMILIES IN NEED AND/OR CHARITIES, OR OTHER ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO PREVENT OR RELIEVE POVERTY

RAINBOW BABY BANK MOVED TO LARGER PREMISES AT THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER 2020. THE NEW PREMISES WERE IN THE HEART OF HECKMONDWIKE TOWN CENTRE AND HAD 3 SPACIOUS FLOORS. THIS ALLOWED US TO OPEN UP A CHARITY SHOP IN ORDER TO MAKE OURSELVES MORE SUSTAINABLE. THIS GAVE US MORE STORAGE SPACE TO ALLOW US TO EXPAND THE RANGE OF CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT WE PROVIDED. MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT ALLOWED US TO HAVE MORE VOLUNTEERS. WE ALSO TOOK THE DECISION TO MOVE TO PROFESSIONAL REFERRAL BASIS ONLY. THIS WAS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PROFESSIONALS AND FAMILIES WE SUPPORT. IT HELPED US TO ENSURE ALL OUR RESOURCES AND DONATIONS WERE AVAILABLE TO HELP THE MOST VULNERABLE IN THE COMMUNITY.
ALONGSIDE REFERRALS FOR INDIVIDUALS, WE ALSO PROUDLY SUPPORT 5 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFUGES IN DEWSBURY AND HUDDERSFIELD. THE SUPPORT OF THE REFUGES IS SOMETHING WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO OUR DECISION TO ADD OLDER CHILDREN’S AND ADULT CLOTHNG TO THE STOCK WE KEEP. WE FELT THERE WAS A NEED FOR A MORE COMPLETE SERVICE TO FAMILIES IN THE REFUGE AND WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.
