We engage with our I￿al communitl8s by offering worship, missKin. pasloral care. education and social activities., We offer the use of our hall and buildings to community groups such as thè uniformed organisations and local groups; Our churches are open for a number of hwrs during the week for many dIffe￿nI people groups, including: parentslcar8rs and babies and toddlers, youth. young adults, the eldedy, and all ages at our Sunday Servi￿S. We have a graveyard and 3 areas for ￿mated remains vthich are available for people from our community should they need thèm; We work alongslde and with other organisations in our community, induding Ioc81 schools. We se8k to support those in need, both physically and mentally. We offer pastoral services such as weddings, funerals and baptisms; We are funded through donatlons and fundraising; The public benefit spiritually, educationally, socially, physically and emotionally from these activities. St John's and St Martin's, where regular worship is offered. The churches are diverse In nature and offer many opportunits'es for different fomis of worship, cultural events and aclivities. A sample for events and actlvltl•$ from each of the churches from 1 January- 31 December All Salnts, Owing lo the pandemic, some ServI￿S were cancelled and we(Idings were postponed. The church was opened for visitors on one Sunday in September and this patt8m has continued. The team continued to serv8 the community by means of holding services at Seagrave Court care hom8. The Day of Reflection was observed by the ringing of the bell. Ride and Stride took place as a fund- raising aclivity for both th8 church and Notts Historical Churches, Trust. In ord8r to raise funds for Rainbows Charity, a wg11-re¢eived concert was staged wth musicians, dancers and readers coming mainly from the church congregation. A Chnstmas lunch for church members was held at a local venue. Ongoing maintenance such as repairs to the church dock were undertaken. Extensive mapping of the churchyard has taken pla￿ and a gardening group meet regularly to ensure the preservation and cultivation of the diverse and naturally £￿IrrIng plants found wilhin the area.

St John's It has been a time of fevered activity with building works taking pla￿ and a full programmé of events and activib'es being made available for the supwrt of those wanting to explore faith, and OUt￿a¢h to those who are isolated and in need. Sunday W￿rShIp continued throughout the year. In addition, Morning Prayer took Pla￿ four times per week. there was a monthly Youth se￿1￿, Alpha course and 'Real Life, discipleship prtyram over 30 weeks. The church continued to reach out to the whol8 community with support for people of all ages. Some events took place regularfy: weekly Community Meal serving 60 plus hot meals (from September); wee￿Y parenvcarer and toddler group,. weekly Youth Hot Chocolate drop-in., weekly Drama Group (from September)" wee￿Y Music Play {youth music lessons); work and awareness-raising on communty allotmenLHoliday Club (Tuesday and Wednesdays during school holidays). Onewoff events included: Women's breakfasts,. Men's breakfasts, Jazz concert, bonfire paty, Christmas IKJhts switch-on as part of community event; Youth Pantomin￿, Carol Serwce. The church continues to be a very active contributor to the life of the local community. St Martln's Wilh the pandemic casting its long shadow. the ChU￿h was dosed until Easter 2021. Thereafter, weekly Little Sparks for parents l Ca￿r5 and loddlets tty)k place every week in term-time. Exciting initiatives were launched to reach thi)se in the lo¢al Community who are isolated and vulnerable. The weekly Community café started up in September, and to serv& those seeking different styles of worship, the weekly fresh expression that is Family, Faith and Fun vms launched in Oclober. One-off events proved to be very popular.. Ice Cream Sundae in August, Carols around the Chestnut Tr8e. Contact with local schools l academies and the local care home was rewestablished with Christingle and Experience Christmas events in schcols. and Carol singing at the care home. Christmas services included Christingle for Family. Faith and Fun, Midnight Communion and a Christmas moming service. The Friends of Sl Martin's Continued to offer a programme of events and activities for the wider community stsrting with a Jazz Café in June. Thereafter, one￿ff events taking place included.. a Local History Walk., Ride and Stride., the Evelyn Gibbs, Annual Lecture,. hosting a visit from the Carlton and Gedling Architectural Society and a Friends Group Social Event. Regular weekly events started up in September: Crally Ladies (every Wednesday). the Local History Group (second Tuesday of every monthl; Ihe Fnday Writers Group continued to meet via Zoom. The church has undertaken ongoing Maintenan￿ tasks and has great plans to transfom the 1970'$ church in order to be b8tt8r equipped to S8n4e the local wmmunity. Our churches conllnue to reach out to local communities, to make our churches accessible and welcoming. Such breadth of work, fuelled and enabled by God's love, is underpinned by the dedicatlon and commitm8nt of so many as visible signs of feith in action. Tha charity's policy of rèserves The truslees have a policy of mainlaining unrestricted reserrfes at a minimum equal to 3 months expenditure, this policy has been met at the year end. Rlsks There is always a risk that income from regular giwng can fall if members sadly die or move out of the Parish. The PCC tries to ensure Ihat sufficient funds are left in reserve for upkeep of the four buildings in the Parish. We might be financially Ghallenged should unavoidable multiple major repairs be needed all at the same time. Respectlve responsibilities of the PCC The PCC of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Bilborough and Strelley, Nottingham are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The PCC consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an Independent examination is needed. Respe¢tlve responslbilities of the Examlner It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act. to follow the procedures lald down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act. and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of Independent examlnerfs report My examlnation was carried out in accordance wlth general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination indudes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disdosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evldence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and falrf view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. Independent examlnérfs statemènt In connection with my examinalion, no matter has come to my attention 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the PCC of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Bilborough and Strelley, Nottingham has not met the requirements to ensure that: proper accounting records in accordance vdth section 130 of the Charftles Act; and the accounts are prepared which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act or 2. to which, in my opinion. attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
