To promote the understanding of our heritage through archaeological digs, research, field walks, visits and other methods. To encourage the community to benefit from the physical and mental health that such activities carry. Based in Rossendale we welcome new members, particularly those who can contribute to our knowledge.

Objects: For The Public Benefit, To Advance The Education Of The Public In The Archaeology And Associated Natural History Of The South Pennines And Adjacent Areas In Particular, But Not Exclusively, By:(a) Encouraging People To Take Part In Local Archaeological Digs. (b) Providing Training Opportunities In Basic Archaeological Techniques. (c) Stimulating Interest From The Local Community And Wider Communities In The History And Heritage Of The South Pennines And Adjacent Areas By Archaeological Excavation, Research, Field Walking, Talks And Other Methods.
